What's up in Memphis?

Recommended Posts

I heard Andre moved to California, so he's working with SCV now. I don't know how accurate that is, but it makes sense.

I don't know anything about the other positions.

I read the same thing off of another post on here a while ago. I don't see anything wrong with it. This kid was just repeating what someone else had posted in the past. On top of that, isn't that pretty much a known public fact for the most part?

I'm sorry if I caused any trouble, but I heard that from another post here on DCP. Even if it wasn't true (which I now know for sure that it is), I wouldn't be doing any more damage than there already was.

Oh, and corpsvalues, I am in fact 16. Maybe it wasn't like this in your day, but gossiping is generally what 16 year olds do.

actually, Andre moved to Michigan to continue his education.

anyway, i come to this thread to see if i can learn anything about my corps home, but all i see is fighting and arguing. So can we keep the conversation to what is happening in Memphis?

Thanks.

I respectfully withdraw from further opinion and debate on this subject. The fact that the staff member left the Memphis corps was in fact public knowledge. The fact that a 16 year old child from a corps in New Jersey was making a comment like "I don't know anything about the other positions" seemed quite odd in reference to a corps from Tennessee. Why in the name of the queen of England would he be in a position to know anything about any of it?

I guess when it comes to corps directors and other adults protecting things like throwing candy at retreat and corps members minding the business of others, I simply must be turning into the grumpy old man I'm accused of being. That's not what drum corps has been about for me.

I'll go back to the rocking chair now while I soak my dentures. :sshh:

Let it be known that children are not to speak unless spoken to, even if it is on the internet and no one knows for sure how old you are, a place where age shouldn't even matter. Actually, lets just say that kids can't use the internet. It should only be a place for adults so that they can discuss serious philosophical questions. As we all know, the adults on DCP are notorious for having sensible conversation without making fools of themselves all the time.

Andre feagin will be leaving to pursue a further degree at michigan state so this summer he will be working with the brassline at santa clara vanguard as ensemble specialist. Also the guard caption head from last year got fired. And Also the visual caption head is leaving to work at Phantom regiment on their visual design team.

From the Memphis Sound website (the ad for a new Corps Director)

"We are pleased to announce that our Percussion Caption Head, Stephen Frittelli and our Visual Caption Head, Jason Younts will be returning with their staff after being awarded the respective Percussion and Visual Division III caption awards in 2007."

So, not saying you don't have the lastest information, just saying that it is not in line with the published content from the drum corps itself.

However, I'm concerned that last year's Div. III champion, is so late in reaching a decision on Mr. Feagin's replacement. His departure has been discussed on DCP for a couple of months already. And, as I said in the OP, what is also concerning is the number of other staff departures. Again, it's just cause for some concern...not that they don't have things going on...it's just there first camp is in less than three weeks and right now they appear to have a drum guy and vis. guy. They need brass, colorguard, operations, and a corps director.

I wish them luck and hope they can get these positions filled soon. This corps was awesome last season! I was hoping Mr. Feagin was going to return. I remember seeing information from him when he was hired how he had a vision for Memphis Sound of being a World Class corps in five years. And he's gone in one. Hey, opportunity knocks I guess.

I wouldn't worry. It's not like they have the people from the food truck running the administrative team.
