Im gonna guess that given the number of Sousy haters, not alot of brass band fans here.

It's sad really. Maybe check out Nat McIntosh, especially his work with Youngblood Brass Band.

other bands worth checking out:

Mama Digdown, Soul Rebels, Rebirth, New Birth, Dirty Dozen, Hot 8, Inner City All Stars, Critical Brass, Jack, Stooges Music Group, and Free Agents.

im not typically a tuba player ( t-bone baritone ) but from my experiences obviously a concert is typically going to play technically better. For a marching ensemble i find that sousaphones are general not very focused and hard to really project the way i want them to. I think the contras tend to have the best intonation and overall are just plain fun to play

Actually, have you ever seen a corps or band have a break down or collision in a formation marching at 200bpm? This is what happens.

I haven't, but if you have a high cam of '84 Garfield at Whitewater Finals I'd pay good money to see it.

our CONTRA line will tell you without question CONTRAS are best...

however, they're animals, they're pulling a right side strong arm to get the horns up,

rather than a front lift to save the integrity of the block from backfield..

yea, they're a little crazy, but you can't help but love 'em
