Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Louisiana Southernaires. We formed in April 1981 and won the 1981 DCI Class A Championship. The corps went down from there, 42nd in Open Class in 1982, to not fielding a corps in 1983.

The Hollywood Knights had one of the largest "hype" campaigns in drum corps history. Unfortunately, the entire history of the corps was:

June 25, 1983 Denver, CO score--21.90

June 28, 1983 Bakersfield, CA score--26.15

June 29, 1983 Riverside, CA score--29.35

June 30, 1983 Anaheim, CA score--26.65

I remember an article showing off their staff uniforms and one about the corps going to be riding on a float in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Can anyone add some details on that?

And on the tick system....OUCH!!

I'll throw out Nightfire.... only fielded for 5 shows in 96...judged exhibition.

I remember that too, Mike. Remember all the hype about them in Drum Corps News the year leading up to '83? (I think you and I were both on the DCN staff that year.) They were selling Hollywood Knights souvenir t-shirts, with a fabulous logo on them. (Those would be true collector's items today!)

I believe somebody from the organization actually was in the Rose Parade that year.

Sounds of Central New York.

They were around for 1 season, barely. I think it was about 1979.
