2008 Cadets show

Nor are they forcing him to not go to shows. That's the free market for ya'.

The fact is any business will not make everyone happy 100% of the time.

Given the choice of satisfying my good customers or my potential ones, I choose those already doing ALOT of business with me.

If said customer is willing to bail based of off one corps, then I as a company begin to wonder how "good" they really are.

So far, I'm only "bailing" on the Cadets. Kinda like if there was one bad waitress at my favorite diner. I won't eat there if she's the one working. If the owner of the diner doesn't get that, and gives her more and more hours, I will be gone.

BTW...don't wonder...I am a good customer.

I'm watching the webcast, so I wonder if I'm "qualified" to make judgement now?

I must say how disappointed I am,

I could barely make out the stage from this camera angle.

And everytime I started getting into the story, those darn drums and horns would start playing. :hehe:

So you feel these customers, you know, the ones involved in the current marching arts, the ones who pay the bills... actually prefer a show filled with narration?

Are you included in this majority of catered to individuals?

Some do, some don't, just like some corps use it, some don't. I don't see the problem.

I couldn't make out much of anything in anyone's show as far as a detailed view. What's your point?

:worthy: Sarcasm man!

That's true. Good thing DCI is catering to most of those involved in the current marching arts.

So now it's some? Not most?

I think it's really more like it's MOST that don't like the Cadets narration, and don't feel catered to in any way.

Ok, that is one corps out of many. How one corps equates to DCI as a whole is where I guess I am missing your point.

Well has anyone considered that the ticket sales might be down because of everything else that is going on in the country? No? Gas prices, cost of food, mortgage foreclosures? It not a conspiracy. And it's not because of the Cadets show. For the first time in awhile people have to cut back on the trips they take and the money they spend. Drum Corp is not a necessity for everyone. As much as we love the activity, not everyone has the same passion for it.

or has the passion but not the funds. i'll agree with ya there

First, I marched with the Cadets (Garfield Cadets) in 84 through 86 and I'm not sure who you are talking about. I know George Hopkins personally. Do I agree with everything George says or does? NO! I have had the opportunity to discuss our differences on many occasions. George Hopkins loves putting on a great show but more than that, he is more concerned about the experience the young people have then anything else. He has always been that way and it has only become more intense for him as the years go by. He is devoted to the corp and those young people. Sometimes more then himself.

Second, Mad_Scotty, your profile says you marched in the Madison Scouts in '93 so what would you know about George Hopkins in 1984??? That would mean the oldest you were in '84 was 12?? :worthy: Maybe 13?? So how and where did you get your opinion of George who you have never spent a summer with?? Or have you??

is he that concerned tho? he knows these shows are lightning rods, and approve or disapprove of hecklers and booers, they will be there. these shows guarantee negative responses from some fans, and putting the kids in that line of fire to prove a point and deliver a message, IMO, isn't helping the kids experience
