oldbandguy
Much of the narration is from Rocky.

btracht
After watching their awesome show on Saturday night in Madison, I heard many people in the stands talking about their favorite Rocky movie- mine was was Rocky 4 only because I saw it on opening night at a midnight movie packed with drunk UW students! The classic Rocky moment was when he was yelling out Adrian's name and I was thinking it might be a perfect crowd cheer during some point in the show, much like a SCV cheer, I just can't figure out where to put it yet, maybe after the boxer? I can't make any more shows this year but I'll be watching the showes on the fan network to see if any creative people choose to make this happen. I met my wife for the first time at Rocky II so I guess I should say Rocky II was indeed my favorite!

baristeve
rocky. I highly doubt drew shanefield said the show was "about rocky."
siLk
I highly doubt drew shanefield said the show was "about rocky." the show has super recognizable rocky music in it and is about boxing. the audience is going to draw that parallel regardless of what the show is about, which could easily be rocky. no one is arguing that the designers themselves based the show off of rocky, but audiences will make that connection with or without their help. Perry S
I highly doubt drew shanefield said the show was "about rocky." And the comment you made to the person about being special was way off the mark LMAO!!!

If the designers based the show off rocky, then it could easily be any generic "fighter overcomes adversities" story. I don't believe the role played by the contender is meant to actually be the character rocky, therefore its not about rocky. Rocky music is just good ole fightin music that's easily accessible by the audience.
Steve709
The show is OBVIOUSLY a hybrid of the two movies Rocky III and On The Waterfront, they use music from both of them, so OBVIOUSLY the show has to be about these two movies. There is also a little bit of 'A Mighty Wind' with the folk music and the singing n such. So basically, Rocky III, On The Waterfront, and A Mighty Wind. I hope this clears things up.
