RickCogley
Ludwig? 1984? Is RIDICULOUS. The segmented writing is absolutely sick. That 84 line may be the greatest battery I ever saw.Said it before, blah blah, Charlie Poole is a god among insects. Thanks for saying so. It was a lot of fun to play! parkbench
Total love for Cavaliers 1992 (Peterloo break) and 1995 Planets piece. Check the Tube for excerpts
Chat_Capone
wow, there are so many cool breaks....almost anything from Tom Float and Charlie Poole...that is for sure, they were always the most interesting.... the 1993 Star of Indiana is simply the tastiest, sophisticated Ive ever heard. 2000 Cadets is total crowd appeal...mixture of old school hard core (no pun int) drumming and new style. 1986 Suncoast Sound was too cool for school. nice job on the antiphonal cymbal chokes and punches over the contrapunctal accents. 1988 Blue Devils...yes, it was all out drumming, but what else to do in a Buddy Rich chart? nice way to take the 6/8 time meter to 2/4 back to 6/8...the alternating cymbal smashing was totally rocked out. 1992 Madison Scouts...what a really cool, creative, crowd inspiring solo....clean and tight too! like the multiple facets of this solo up to the accel, cross-over drum to drum sticking, etc. 1995 Caribe Tenor feature Blue Devils...nuff said. 1984 SCV " Musika Bohema"....totally risky, but highly effective. Invader
Many great ones but 1968 Kilties and 1992 Crossmen stand out as the best. I miss Mark Thurston.
uncle z
4 pages of thread and no mention of '76 Kilties "Linus and Lucy??" Total love for Cavaliers 1992 (Peterloo break) and 1995 Planets piece. Check the Tube for excerpts As long as you're referencing "The Sight That Shall NOT Be Named," search username go2thomas for 5 pages of drum solo videos--check out '78 Kilties and try to figure out if Mike Chiodo is looking at Paul Wojtena or you.
