2000Cadet
Simply my opinion: Well-written program, performed at a high level, and easily accessible to the audience. I think that the last detail may lend to the evidence against it for being "shticky." However, I still think a lot of stuff can be artistic AND accessible and not be labeled as such.2005 BD: I thought it was a great idea having it backwards. Most judges tapes will mention "push to the end of the phrase" or "obvious fatigue in the members is starting to show".. but BD, rather than hiding this by making the end of the show the labored and tired parts, wrote the program for the show to be performed the strongest at the end. That's gutsy, to me. Cadets, any year 2005-2008: I think we need to sit back and realize that they possibly are changing the activity in a positive way. Look at Star of Indiana. Apparently, in their prime, they were still being booed off the field for doing minimalistic shows (among other reasons of which the members had no control, including money). This era's Cadets may just be the same case. In 10 years we'll all look back and say "That was awesome. Period." Lastly, sorry it seems as if I'm trying to defend everything you guys are trying to criticize, but I think there's a lot of negativity in this thread and I was just trying to share some positives, even if for the members' sake. I know that seeing your corps criticized so blatantly, and sometimes torn down so hatefully can be really, really disheartening, especially after having arrived home no earlier than 3 days ago from busting your butt for an entire summer. Just my two cents. Excellent post man (or woman?).
TealEuph7
Having a show about a dance show. Having someone sing in a ballad in 06 when a perfectly awesome hornline can do it.
DCImonkey
Worst Ideas since 2000: Crown 2002: PINK TOGAS! ...oh and the show was crap too. Thank God for that show though, cause Crown fell out of Finals and went out and got an AWESOME staff that has them where they are today. Billy Joel? heh...i know what's worse. JETHRO TULL!!!! God I hated that show. Great corps....great stuff....bad source music. I hate Jethro Tull with a passion. Conquistador!!!!! Magic copying 303,395,285 HS marching bands that year by doing Pirates of the Caribbean.... really didn't the 8 bands that did that show at your local band competition make you a little sick of that music? Magic attempting to play Chaos after the Cadets had perfected it in 2000.

People who say such things are kissing butt and encouraging "designers" to go back to that bad place. Sure, like leg warmers, looking back, were awesome. Another bad idea. Move on... NEXT? So you're saying Cadets show next year will include songs like "Get Physical" by Olivia Newton John along with tunes from Fame and Flashdance? Bored50345
The Cadets take a lot of crap on this board, but between 04-08 they've had one really good show (05) and some really bad choices. I think the worst part of the 06 show wasn't the singing but the cheap rabbit costume. The Crown singing in in 04. I'm not totally against singing but please get some people who can actually sing. Cavies using Billy Joel but not utilizing any of his notable melodies. The opening of the Glassman's Beethoven show where they just stood and played Beethoven's 5th. Just bad design. But I think the biggest mistake of the decade...YOWZA!
