Joined my high school band playing marching bells/xylo because I had a crush on a boy who was a tenor drummer. (Never did get to date the boy, but basically I can blame him for the rest of my musical choices, which led to drum corps, a music major, me teaching Troopers, meeting my husband and eventually landing a music teaching job I love.)

I decided to march corps because a friend of mine from the band was in it. I had never seen a drum corps show before my first camp with the Nighthawks. We folded in mid-season 1984, and a Nighthawks friend wound up finishing the season with Troopers. He called me in May 1985 and got me up to Casper that summer, and the rest is history.
