Ben
I hope they do something new and original with it and knock my socks off and prove my first reaction ("zzzzzzzzzzz", aka "enough already") wrong. That's what I was thinking. Take it in a new direction and surprise everyone.

Peel Paint
That's what I was thinking. Take it in a new direction and surprise everyone. Reading the SCV show announcement carefully, it could be that they'll have other music besides Appalachian Spring in there, which could help take it in a new direction. It could be like Phantom reworking Khatchaturian's ballet score to Spartacus, but there was lots of other music in their show this year which did freshen up their two previous cracks at it. DCIHasBeen
Hey, I don't see any reasons why SCV shouldn't try this. It's a different generation of drum corps, a different bunch of kids, and a re-mixed staff. I'm sure they wouldn't be planning it if they didn't have something fresh to bring to the table. NR_Ohiobando
This pretty much sums up my reaction: anyone else nominating this for "Post of the Year" Oddly enough, that was pretty much my reaction too. "Meh...Appalachian Spring......but it's great homage to tradition...go for it SCV!"
Hrothgar15
Does it say anywhere in the announcement that they will actually be playing any part of Appalachian Spring?
Matt_S
Did you read the announcement? Like, at all? Point of fact, they will not be playing Appalachian Spring. They'll be playing the ballet that was reworked to later create Appalachian Spring.
