It's often said that smells are very connected to memory. For me, in a close second place to bus fumes for bringing back drum corps memories is that stuff (the DCT).

As for things that save your life, sunscreen. Literally.

I do not know how you guys think about the water in the high schools, but in The Netherlands we get water from the tap as clean as the water you can buy at the gas stations in the US. So, being used to that kind of water, we were always very glad to be able to buy some new water, and sometimes spended 1 hour of our 2 hour diner break to get it.

And in our housing in Michigan City there was a vendingmachine with ice cream! That was just great.

My personal stash of TP came in handy about once a week on tour. Really saved my ###.

Other than that, lemonade mix for when the water smells like eggs.

Tylenol PM

My neck pillow

Bungie cords

DCT

Gold Bond blue and green bottle. One for the feet, one for the nads.

I wonder if anyone will have a Snuggie on the bus this year?

The first big big show I went to after marching was San Antonio, 07. Before I heard a drum, before I really got a good look at the stadium....I smelled the fumes and just felt good again! Truck stops are surprisingly comforting now.

What saved my life was my seat partner's doormat that he put on the floor of our seats. It was awesome not having a cold floor beneath you when you slept!
