dciguy1987
That looks like an outstanding program! Wondering how they will take this great music and boil it down to the usual whole-note, half-note version...
DrinkinOuttaCups
Wondering how they will take this great music and boil it down to the usual whole-note, half-note version... That'd probably be the case if they had the same guy arranging for them that they've had the past few years (kidding), but from what I understood, he left, and they've got a new guy writing the brass book. dc oldtimer
but I thought De Meij wasn't letting anyone do his stuff after the Cadets did "Big Apple" in 1999. Just speculating but it did take them some time to get the rights ironed out. Maybe it was this piece that was the difficult to get. Again, just guessing. dc oldtimer
Wondering how they will take this great music and boil it down to the usual whole-note, half-note version... Nice. Some corps park and blow. Some corps can't march. Some corps guards stink. Some corps drum lines can't play. Some..... ......you can choose one thing from every corps to pick on. MOZART So then you like it? You really like it, Your Majesty? JOSEPH Of course I do. It's very good. Of course now and then - just now and then - it gets a touch elaborate. MOZART What do you mean, Sire? JOSEPH Well, I mean occasionally it seems to have, how shall one say? How shall one say, Director? ORSINI-ROSENBERG Too many notes, Your Majesty? JOSEPH Exactly. Very well put. Too many notes. MOZART I don't understand. There are just as many notes, Majesty, as are required. Neither more nor less. JOSEPH My dear fellow, there are in fact only so many notes the ear can hear in the course of an evening. I think I'm right in saying that, aren't I, Court Composer? SALIERI Yes! yes! er, on the whole, yes, Majesty. MOZART But this is absurd! JOSEPH My dear, young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is inge- nious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Cut a few and it will be perfect. MOZART Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?
Galen
Maybe I missed it, but you did see that if you click on the pic on their website that you can see the selection of pieces, right?Extreme Make-over by Johan de Meij Pampeana No. 3 - Impetuosamente by Alberto Ginastera The Engulfed Cathedral by Claude Debussy On the Great Divide by John Adams Just in case you were wondering This should be a very good program, music-wise
Greenteaisgood
I've never heard of any of these selections but found samples on Imeem and Amazon. I gotta say if the cavs can play this music well AND keep their visual as good as it has been, this show is gonna be awesome!!!!!!
CloudFuel
Wondering how they will take this great music and boil it down to the usual whole-note, half-note version... Umm... are you high? I was playing 8th & 16th notes as a CONTRA in 04... pretty sure the sop's had a ton of 16th notes during the majority of Cuba and the closer.. and that's just that year... & just two instruments. If you wanna harp on something that's legitimate - that's cool.. but making stuff up? Lame.

ContraRich77
gee, nothing is more exciting than a snazzy title and groovy picture with no indication whatsoever as to the musical material........unless we're correct in assuming something Don Ellis related?
