My DCA 2009 Prediction

I hereby predict that a corps other than the Reading Buccaneers will win DCA this year.

Please understand my friends, this is not a slam on one of my favorite corps ever (and one I marched in) ... but based on my analysis of the 2009 season and corps, I believe that the outcome of DCA this year will be very, very unexpected for both the fans and DCA judges, and that the Bucs will probably not be in first place in DCA when the dust settles.

I could be wrong, and they can easily prove me wrong, but my DCP prediction as of July 17 is that of an impending late-season competitive shakeup, and a stunning upset at the 2009 DCA Championships.

Seriously, though - Bucs aren't my bag, but, having seen them twice so far, I can say, trust me, they do what they do VERY well this summer, just like they have for a while recently. Somebody would have to SERIOUSLY step it up to pass them this year. Obviously, I have my own rooting interest so it's clear who I hope does just that, and if you're right and anybody does, well, I can't wait to see that somebody, beacuse they're gonna be awfully, awfully good.

I mean, that would probably be a bigger shock than 1981, 1986, or 1996!

But if someone pulls it off, huge props to them

(And by the way - Like you, sir, I speak ONLY for myself! So don't anybody go getting ticked at any corps, person, state, part of the country, skin color, age group, religion, etc, etc, etc . They had nothing to do with my remarks - It's all my own fault!)

I also predict there will be a major, major shake-up in the top 5. It's not hype, it's not wishing...

I think there will be some HUGE surprises come September. The writing is on the wall, but it seems as if it has gone somewhat unnoticed - which makes it even better.

i think i agree with you fred. the only wild card i see is MBI. still don't think they win though. we'll know more after scranton about them. sounds like there may be a lot of sentment for renegades.
