Dont be afraid to name a show if the corp was in open class in the year you liked. Why 05? simply because that was the year I was introduced to Drum Corps. The Academy-2007 Great music. Amoung the top 3 in difficulty for music put out there that year. Blue Devils-2008 Very innovative and very fun to watch Blue Knights-06 Blue Stars-09 great show. Loved the ballad. Bluecoats- 06 I loved the show from start to finish and the excitment for them this year was fun to follow. Boston Crusaders-hmmm id have to say this year. 09 Carolina Crown-This one is close. Loved all their shows from 06 till now. Ill go with 08. Cascades-Only ever seen 05s. The Cavaliers-'06 Colts-07 Crossmen-'06 Glassmen-06 loved the silent part Cadets-'07 Jersey Surf-06 fun show Madison Scouts-05 Mandarins-08 Pacific Crest-07 Phantom Regiment-06 awesome show Pioneer-I have never seen a Pioneer show... Big step up Santa Clara Vanguard-05. Visually dirty, but i loved this show. Madison Scouts- 05! Mandarins- ??? Pacific Crest- ??? Oops. Blue Devils- 2009, though I haven't seen 2005. And that's no large compliment to 09... great show and all, but none of them have really amazed me since 2004. Blue Knights - either 08 or 09, probably 09. 07 was also based off of awesome music that didn't translate very well. Blue Stars- 08, for the intro and ballad. And almost being a part of it. :S Though, the 05 show was Final Fantasy music, and that's awesome. Bluecoats- really tough choices, really very hard choices for me. I haven't seen Caravan enough to honestly judge it (the first time I saw it about a week ago it rocked my world), so between the rest...probably 09. Boston Crusaders- I guess 09. [no offense, I'm a bit unlearned of them] Carolina Crown- 2006. I don't care how bad they were (they being the battery), that show was awesome. Runner-up: 07. The Cavaliers- 06, with 08 a visual runner-up. Colts- Don't know. Crossmen- Between 08 and 09, 09. Glassmen- 09 for sure. Cadets- 05 automatically, I suppose. 09 was awesome, though. Madison Scouts- 09. Phantom Regiment- 08, 06 a close second [i always forget about 06 now, even though it's one of my favorites]. Pioneer- Don't know. Santa Clara Vanguard- a tie between 08 and 09 Spirit - I haven't seen any but 07, really. Troopers- Don't know. If their closer had kept up the energy of the rest of the show, it would probably be one of my top 3 BD shows. Blue Knights - Their shows are generally too dark for me, but I liked 09. Blue Stars- 08. Bluecoats- Thought 09 was just great. Boston Crusaders- 09. Carolina Crown- This is a tough one for me. Loved 07, thought 08 was ingenious musically, and 09 constantly grows on me (no pun intended). I may have to go with 08 though. The Cavaliers- 06, even though I felt Phantom should've won that year. Colts- 09 Crossmen- 08 Glassmen- 09 Cadets- Another tough one. 05 was just so #### clean. 07 was just so #### in your face. 09 was just so #### awesome. From a total cohesive package.... I honestly don't know. If you're putting a gun to my head, I'm gonna have to go with 09. Madison Scouts- 09 I guess? Phantom Regiment- 08 gets a lot of love for good reason. 06 was just more of a seamless package for me. Pioneer- Not really sure. Santa Clara Vanguard- 09. This show should've beaten Cavies easily IMO. Troopers- Seeing as how I only saw them this year, I have to say 09. But I truly did enjoy their show. Was glad to see them back in the top 12. Blue Knights-2008 Only BK I didn't walk out of (or skip on DVD/CD). Blue Stars-2009 A great way to stay ahead of the curve. Bluecoats-2005 Whoa. Music, music, music! Good choice on every song. Boston Crusaders-2009 Just bad** throughout. Carolina Crown-2007 Liked most of them (05, 06, 07). Crown strikes me as a corps who picks a theme and revovles the whole show around it (COOL!). Except in 08 and 09, they forgot about it until Finals/never. Very weak last couple years, theme-wise. Cascades-Same as The Academy. The Cavaliers-2006. Holy THEME! Just a great overall package. Colts-2009. Ahoy! Crossmen-2009. Dark, dark, dark. What I wish modern day drum corps could be. Glassmen-2005. Cool takes on classics. Cadets-2005. Can't compare this masterpiece to anything else. Won every caption with a very unique, groundbreaking package. Not an easy task. Jersey Surf-2009. Welcome to World Class. Madison Scouts-2008. Classic Madison with a twist. Mandarins-Never seen them. Pacific Crest-Never seen them. Phantom Regiment-2005. Amazing take on a great composer. I've also liked every one of their shows except 06. Pioneer-Never seen them. Santa Clara Vanguard-2008. Wow. Madison - 2005, but only because that's the best they've been in this span. . . don't really like any of the shows. Crossmen - AHAHAHAHAHAHA. . . None. I would choose '05 but that's probably the worst drill writing I've seen in DCI EVER, so I can't. That would've been a finalist corps if they had halfway decent drill. Spirit - Hmmm. . . I liked 07, I think. Mandarins - ? Pac Crest - ? Surf - I liked this year's show. Pioneer - ? Cascades - They were nice when I met them in 2007.
