Jimisback
So is it balance and LOUD? Or is it BALLS to the WALLS LOUD and good, that brings people to their feet??????? Remember this is drum corps, not orchestra. Also remember that Balanced is not the same as IN TUNE. As well as Visa Versa. What is obvious to me, is that we are losing people. Players and watchers. Players and watchers. it is probably based on how someone is taught. In a way you like what you are comfortable with. I would go with Balanced and Loud is better mostly because that takes more skill from the group. For the most part any group can play Loud and out of tune/balance so (for me anyway) that isn't very impressive

Perry S
Spirit 1980 - park and blow at start of show - whatever that was. that would be Georgia. The single loudest drum Corps happening/show in the history of drum corps. Like I've said on here before they still have not moved the stadium in Birmingham back up to where it was. Lance
...Loud, Balanced, AND in tune? Can I have that please? Rarely, unfortunately. I'll take balance and/or intonation over purely loud and sounding like trash cans banging together anyday, though.

But to do so and sound good as an ensemble is a higher level. When I hear this (ie Crown this year) I am far more impressed than I would be watching a loud and overbalanced/blatty hornline. But that's just me.
