We've just had 12 posts in a row that had nothing to do with drum corps or DCP.

I suspect this thread has officially jumped the shark.

. . .however, they do have to do with polling, which is also what the thread is about.

A) YES this post has jumped the shark!

B) NO this post has stayed on task.

C) What the heck does "Jump the Shark" mean?

D) You're all wrong this post has clearly jumped the "crocaduck" or "Fowligator" or "Mallardgator" ...etc

They usually hire professionals to insure accurate sampling. If they want to be taken seriously, anyway. Kind of important factor there.

One would hope that to be the case but the "professionals" also know all the tricks to phrase the question to make the "accurate sampling" yield the desired results. You know, the good old practice of asking questions like "have you stopped beating your wife" with the only optional responses being yes or no. But then, we've seen lots of polls like that on DCP as well (and usually regarding the most controversial issues like woodwinds, amps, electronics and George Hopkins).

I suspect this thread has officially jumped the shark.

I was personally torn between " 25% educated unbiased opinion,75% personal preference " and " 50% educated unbiased opinion, 50% personal preference. " I wished there was a category for" 40% educated unbiased opinion, 60% personal preference ". Since there wasn't, I felt compelled to vote for the shark. Sharks don't bite as bad as this thread does.

I'm not sure that's possible anymore. However, I'm willing to concede to you on choice D.

You're close with your 40/60 ratio, but you'd be even closer with dishwasher/refrigerator.

If it's a company that truly wants to improve and actually gain (or hold onto) consumers, that would be to their detriment.

But yes, there are interest groups that try to get statistics to say what they want to say.

-------------------------------

But, the only way to insure accuracy of polling samples on DCP would be to hire professionals to set them up and run them.
