Are there any Bluecoat traditions?

Recommended Posts

Autumn Leaves is also a tradition with the corps. This is the corps song and is played many times during the season, and also sung before shows I believe.

I believe Gunther started in 1990

Six Words is really the only thing that is kept as a secret and it started well after I aged out.

Funny thing....I thought the six words were "When Autumn leaves begin to fall..." when I first heard about it and didn't realize it was a members-only thing. Given the association of the song with 'Coats, it was a logical presumption.

If it's what I saw on the web site, it must not be that much of a secret. Hint: Someone above me not named Sam has already mentioned it.

Excellent Contra Lines? Does that count as a tradition? I always like them, from '87, to early-and-mid 90s, to Caravan to Criminal to Imagine. I didn't listen to drum corps too much from 1997 to 2003, except 1999 SCV, so I can't comment on Bloo contras from those years.

My fav six words:"Excellence is a choice. Choose wisely."

I really couldn't care less about any others. Maybe their six words are similar.

I can safely said the "proper" six words has not been been correctly stated

The Trumpets/Sopranos have a sword, the name is Itawamba. Named after the city in Mississippi where the sopranos bought the sword.

"Let's Go Blooo"

also hint, someone up above googled it and found it on their website.

Well then, I'm sure those must be our six words. Speaking from my own experience, they aren't.

And the contras still have Gunther. I think we're onto Gunther XIII now.
