Michael Boo
Nope, it was banned a couple years ago to prevent people from saying "oh I was just kidding" as a weak effort to save face after realizing their previous posts were unnecessarily confrontational. That's too bad. While some may think your responses to GMichael were confrontational, I don't believe they require any kind of effort to prevent you from saying you were just kidding. Soon enough, we'll be able to gather in stadiums around the country, with or without our posters, and sing Kum-Ba-Yah with our arms around each others' shoulders. Michael Boo
Cheese is Gouda. I knew we'd be able to find common ground. If we meet this summer, the cheese is on me. (And if I'm not watching where I put it, it sometimes is.) Happy curds!
Rawtv_JohnChristensen
SCV '04 is still the poster to beat, hands down. Thank you. It was fun making this. I hope they do more.
Michael Boo
We now return to the topic of viewing (and hopefully enjoying and discussing) the various corps posters and logos for this coming season. Thank you all for enduring the detour. PS: And posters for prior seasons as well. I had never seen the Scheherazade poster until now. MikeN
Thank you. It was fun making this. I hope they do more. I do too - I still have mine in my office in fact. (As well as the 2005 Russia poster, but ... we'll not talk about that one...) Mike
Granny Smith
actually, No...Drum corps does NOT need to take their quest for excellence beyond the field but thats a whole other can of worms So, the original reason I started the thread was to have a place for all posters to be posted. But, what fun is that? I should have known that the posters (paper) would be critiqued and then the posters (people) would be criticized. That's the name of the game, isn't it. It's jolly good fun. Rimba47
actually, No...Drum corps does NOT need to take their quest for excellence beyond the field but thats a whole other can of worms, and many different views regarding that......a drum & bugle corps should strie to be the best drum & bugle corps they can be.......Its whats on the field that makes the poster so special.....I'll tell you right now....should SPirit come in last place and Phantom go undefeated and score 100.00...that "f-ugly" poster will be the hottest thing on the market and nobody would give the spirit poster a second glance.......Old programs from shows from the 70's and early 80's fetch mad money from collectors, not because of the designm but because of the nostalgia and the connection to the show......What a poster looks like means nothing except a reason to have a discussion in may on DCP. G I'm not sure what "G" has against people hating on posters. Maybe he thinks all posters are his family and bashing one is like bashing a very dear love one. Bottom line I can dislike Phantom's poster, believe they should have taken more time and consideration in making a better one, and look forward to seeing their 2010 show anyway. And frankly even if "phantom goes undefeated" the poster will still be ugly. And for someone who thinks the posters don't matter you are putting an awful lot of energy into aguing that they don't matter... hmm... But the general idea for DCI posters is that the people who see them are fans anyway so the design won't influence whether or not they see the show! Its not like a Movie Poster where looks are everything. But fans just like to see Drum Corps represented in the BEST possible light so that if I show my non-DCI buddies a poster of a DCI show they can say, "wow, that looks cool." and think that we take it seriously and professionally (to an extent). If posters really didn't matter than there would be no point to making them. Corps make them because they think they serve some purpose. So, its my opinion that the corps should do the BEST they can in achieving that purpose. And clearly posters are very important to me. I can't live in a world without posters. I can live off posters and breathe posters and still not get enough posters. Posters are my life and I plan to marry a poster one day. So, don't get between me and my over serious idea of the "meaning of life" errr... "meaning of posters" and we will get a long just fine. Posters.
