Taylor
it can happen. the worst cases I've seen is the kids maxing out, and the staff not having any ideas or tweaks to add in to help take it to that next level...and they level off.I still think back to 1991...DCI East, Crossmen either tie or beat BD and Cadets that day. finals, they're in 8th, BD and Cadets both over them. Exactly the example I was going to give.
DrillmanSop06
Peaking early is...rarely a positive phenomenon. The concept is real in that emotional stagnation is real. Shows can also be cleaned sterile. It definitely happens and even "lower-level" corps are aware of this. It's the reason for late-season rewrites and new endings. Yeah, that stuff is great for the crowd and to keep fans hooked but it's not about that at all. It's about making sure the corps doesn't begin to become complacent and lose their emotional investment in the show itself. Eventually, doing the same mechanical process over and over removes the emotional component so important to the show.
