WestCoaster
Yes, it was such a feel of notalgia to see the Cadets, BD, and SCV back in the top 3 for the years 97, and 98.G As it should be.

2000Cadet
Makes it all the more absurd that some corps still rehearse that way. No, just a different opinion on how a corps should rehearse. To each his own right?
megadrive
Yes, they should just sleep, that'll fix it. Sleep is practice for death!
perc2100
No, just a different opinion on how a corps should rehearse. To each his own right? Exactly: two different philosophies on corps rehearsal that have both consistently yielded VERY successful results.
WestCoaster
No, just a different opinion on how a corps should rehearse. To each his own right? The thing lots of people don't realize (and I'm sure you're aware of this) is that what is now sort of a tradition thing for the Cadets was born out of necessity. Back in the 80's, like most East Coast corps the Cadets didn't have a deep talent pool to choose from. They went with the next best thing, picking members who were hard working and determined and then "getting there" through sheer force of will (and lots of reps ). If not for that hardcore work ethic, they never would've stood a chance against the other top corps. Nowadays of course, Cadets get just as much talent knocking on their door as anyone else, but they've kept the same rehearsal style because it's what they do, and it's worked well for them over the years. Yes, but not as well as it used to. The two corps that typically sleep the most in the activity are the blue devils and the cavaliers and they have won the following years in the last 20: 92 94 95 96 (tie with PR) 97 99 (tie with SCV) 2000 (tie with cadets) 01 O2 03 04 06 07 09 Notice the dominance the last decade especially. The shows now are so hard, that the students need the rest IMO to be able to consistently perform and improve on a daily basis.

Cadets have five titles of their own within that timeframe, obviously their way works well for them. And besides, BD (and everyone else) didn't get their heads handed to them year after year during that Cavies seven year tear because they didn't get enough rack time. Worked is the key term. The days of beating the members to death to win are gone, because it rarely works anymore. With that geeing said, the cadets can continue to do that if they so desire... It just means more titles for everyone else.
JayM
It will interesting to see how the Cavaliers have improved by the end of this week. They've taken the last two days lighter than one might expect. Not a bad idea after a grueling Texas tour (not to mention the travel leading up to it).
