SFZFAN
Just announced by the Crossmen: Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps announces the resignation of music designer and arranger Aaron Guidry. After four great years with Crossmen, Mr. Guidry has accepted a position with a new Cirque du Soleil production. A new Music Designer/Brass Arranger will be named in the coming weeks! Just announced by the Crossmen. After so many comments about their arrangements sounding like they belong in Cirque du Soleil this is priceless. MikeN
Aaron worked previously with CdS - it's not a new career for him or anything. Mike
bawker
Just announced by the Crossmen. After so many comments about their arrangements sounding like they belong in Cirque du Soleil this is priceless. http://www.innovativepercussion.com/pages/...s/bio.asp?id=94 Aaron Guidry is currently the Percussionist and Taiko Soloist with Cirque du Soleil's "Mystère" in Las Vegas. Additionally, he serves as Taiko Coach, back-up Drum Set Chair, and Assistant Musical Director. Prior to performing with Cirque du Soleil, Aaron was Percussionist/Snare Drum Soloist with the U.S. Touring Cast of "Blast." He also spent several years teaching as Percussion Specialist in the North East Independent School District, San Antonio, Texas, where he initiated a curriculum of World Percussion, including Brazilian drumming, steel drumming, taiko drumming, and African drumming and dance. I'd say that this was the next logical step for him, considering his previous engagement. All the best to him . . .and, looking forward to seeing who Bones comes up with. I gotta say, on a personal level, I'd love to hear Chuck Naffier charts again . . .

ouooga
Is Benoit Jutras no longer with Cirque? Very cool gig for Aaron Guidry, even if he's already done it.
MikeN
According to Benoit's blog, he's in Macau preparing for a production called The House of Dancing Water. Mike

SFZFAN
Just a heads up - I wasn't trying to slam Aaron Guidry and I didn't know he was with Cirque previously. I just read so many comments about his arrangements sounding like Cirque. Guess now I know why.
ouooga
Off topic, but I never even bothered to look up Benoit Jutras online until now. I had no clue he did Le Reve at the Wynn. When is a corps going to do that music?! It's excellent!
va9590jm
I don't see anything on the Crossmen website about this... If it is true, that's great, but...as I've said before about show announcements and stuff, too, I don't believe it until I see an actual announcement on the corps website.
