Top 10 shows of 2010

Recommended Posts

For those of you that don't know me, I'm all about lists. I'm like the John Cusak's character in HIGH FIDELITY. He's all about making Top 5 lists and makes plenty throughout the film.

So, now that the season is over, I'd like to make a new thread on here where we can discuss what our favorite shows of the season were. Instead of a Top 5, I opted for a Top 10 because it would be too hard for me to limit it to five.

1. Carolina Crown - A Sec2nd Chance

2. Bluecoats - Metropolis: The Future is Now

3. Madison Scouts - Slaughter on 10th Ave/Rhapsody in Blue

4. Blue Knights - Europa

4. Boston Crusaders - Thy Kingdom Come

6. Santa Clara Vanguard - Bartok

7. Phantom Regiment - Into the Light

8. Teal Sound - In the Presence of Enemies

9. Blue Stars - Houdini

10. Crossmen - Full Circle

These are my Top 10. I'm very interested in seeing everyone else's replies, so discuss away!

P.S. this is a thread about the Top 10 shows that you LIKED/LOVED this summer. Please do not use it as a way to slam shows that you did not like or didn't care for.

2 Santa Clara Vanguard

3 Phantom Regiment

4 The Cadets

5. Madison Scouts

6. Blue Stars

7. Blue Knights

I think that one was most entertaining in the top 12. Good that this one can include all WC and OC too.

I didn't catch many open class this year, so mine are all world class:

1. Cavaliers - pure energy throughout, incredible guard

2. Blue Stars - love the theme, best music of the year, awesome drill, fabulous guard work

3. Madison Scouts - the music was phenomenal; most fun guard of the year

4. Bluecoats - innovative and fun to watch and listen to all at once!

5. Santa Clara Vanguard - personally I really like the musical selections, and the show design was perfect for it

6. Spirit - except for the chanting voice, I liked everything about this show; Spirit is definitely on their way back

7. Boston Crusaders - loved the opening and just the overall feel of the show

8. Carolina Crown - wanted to like it much more, but no question the brass performance was stellar, and the finals week version worked well, despite my skepticism about the Promise of Living reprise

9. Phantom Regiment - beautiful in so many ways; their entrance is an unforgettable moment

10. Pacific Crest - really sharp drill and music; I was very impressed

Honorable mentions:

Teal Sound - opener was awesome; guitar was a little too prominent later in the show, but a great show overall

Cadets - great music; less focus on Little Jeffrey might have made the show more appealing to me

Blue Devils - pushing the limits in a good way; executed flawlessly; I have come to really enjoy the first third of the show, but beyond that it's just too fragmented for me; someone else said "there's nothing to grab onto" about the show, and that's kind of how I feel

1. Blue Devils - simply mind-boggling, engaging and rewarding.

2.(tie)Carolina Crown/Bluecoats - each their organizations best shows, IMO....cant get enough

4. Madison Scouts - Old school, loud, unbelievable presence, sound, and guard !

5. Academy - yes, Academy. Just funt watch and hear, not pretentious or pompous, and awesome colorguard UNIFORMS !

6. SCV - love the music, liked the drill....music trumps movement, for me.

7. Blue Knights - Great music, great drill, good guard....nothing else needed.

8. Blue Stars - didnt think they would be this high but the program was outstanding and intriguing.

9. Spirit - I actually liked the "icon" and "forging" sounds....loved the drill and was happy from the improvement over last year.

10. Boston Crusaders - if nothing for the entry alone !
