vbc33
From the Crossmen home page..... Lee Beddis and Andrew Markworth to Arrange 2011 Crossmen Percussion Fred Morrison, Executive Director/Corps Director, and Jaime Alvarez-Calderon, Program Coordinator of the Crossmen Drum Corps, are pleased to announce Lee Beddis and Andrew Markworth as Percussion Arrangers for the 2011 Season. Lee Beddis A native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Lee Beddis spent his youth with the Peterborough Krescendos, the Canadian Knights and the Kitchener Dutch Boy Drum Corps. He would later move south to join the ranks of the World Champion Garfield Cadets in order to become part of the now-legendary "perfect" percussion line of 1987. After winning his second title in 1990, he aged out, swiftly moving into the role of instructor. His instructing experience includes the Madison Scouts, Star of Indiana and the Phantom Regiment. It was there, in 1996, that Lee helped capture the World title with his ambitious work for "The Defiant Heart," an all-Shostakovich program. In 1997, he turned his skills to the rebuilding of the Toledo, Ohio, Glassmen. Within the year, his expertise found immediate reward, moving that section into the forefront world-class recognition. After the successful 2000 season, he moved to the Crossmen, where he remained until his appointment as Percussion Coordinator to the Madison Scouts. Lee's unique reputation as a program builder prepared him for the role of returning the 2005 and 2006 Madison line to elite status. In 2007, Lee's unique reputation of building quality percussion programs with success in short periods of time fit in right with Carolina Crown's desired level of success. Lee's experience at all levels of instruction from tech, to caption head, arranger and percussion coordinator make him the perfect choice for leading the Crown percussion section in 2007 and beyond. In addition to drum corps experience, Lee is in demand throughout the United States and Canada as a highly-regarded judge for Winter Guard International and many other organizations. Lee’s percussive contributions to the corps are well-known by many and the Crossmen are honored to welcome him back into the organization. Andrew Markworth Andrew Markworth is currently the Assistant Band Director at West Bloomfield High School in West Bloomfield, MI where he resides with his wife, Kara. Previously Andrew spent the last five years as an instructor, arranger, and composer for the nationally acclaimed "Centerville Jazz Band" and world champion winter drumline of which he was a member from 1997-2001. Andrew was a member of the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2001 and 2002, being the percussion captain in 2002. In 2004, he was a member of the DCI World Champion Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Andrew was also a member of the WGI Independent World Class Medalist RhythmX from 2003-2005, being the ensemble captain in 2004 and 2005. Immediately following his age-out, Andrew joined the staff of RhythmX where he has arranged for the front ensemble, battery, and served on the administrative staff, helping lead the ensemble to back-to-back Championship titles in 2008 and 2009. Andrew has also arranged and composed for the following groups: Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps (2007-present), Centerville High School (2002 - present), Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2008) as well as many others. Andrew lives with his wife Kara in Centerville, OH. The Crossmen organization would also like to welcome Andrew back to the team and look forward to a great year ahead. Lee and Andrew are in the final stages of assembling the 2011 Percussion Staff. Stay tuned for that announcement soon.
Kyle B
Is Lee going to still be with Crown or is he only going to be with the Crossmen? Either way, this is awesome news!

soccerguy315
good on the writing side... I guess Beddis will pick one of "his guys" (whatever that actually means) for the caption head.

wturner901
Anyone know how this is affecting Crown, if at all?
xmensop
I recommend everyone take a listen and see what Chuck and Lee are capable of in their arranging. Crossmen 2000-2004 were the last few great years of the corps, and I have no doubt that they will be turning things around in the very near future. Having both Chuck AND Lee, on top of Devlin, and they're in great hands. Also, from what I understand, Mark Thurston will be a part of the corps in a consulting role.
