corpsband
Sure, but surviving a season at corps X does not necessarily equal the ability to survive a season at corps Y. All it indicates is that they marched "somewhere". How much does the staff at BD know about how Colts or Academy ran their rehearsals, what they required of their membership etc... The experience is only worthwhile if the other aspects of a quality member are in place. When I was teaching in the early 90's we had two people join with mad chops and indicated previous marching experience. They were the worst members in the line, so convinced of their own ability they couldn't see common sense through their own bad attitude. I did say "presumably" :-) Clearly prior drumcorps experience is no guarantee but it *is* a pretty strong indicator. But it doesn't invalidate all the other factors a staff considers when evaluating potential members.
