I marched in a 10 man snareline in 1990...we won drums and DCI...the whole shabang. I'm wondering 3 things:

1) How many lines marched 10 snares (or more...the entire show) since 1985?

1986 Blue Devils.....won high drums I believe.....An intense scary looking collection of folks in that line...lol

1987 Blue Devils as well...as far as I know...

Madison had 10 person lines in 1993 and 1994

I think most corps march 9 now.....its better than the 5 and 6 man snare lines we had in the mid 90's

3) If you marched in a big-### snareline, tell us where, when, and your experiences! It's a very cool thing to look to your left and right and see a battalion of snare drummers on each side of you!

'94 27th Lancers Alumni marched 27 snares. For the performance at DCI Finals in Foxboro, there were 28 snares (Charlie Poole, who was judging finals, changed into uniform and performed). Video available on the 27th Lancers group on facebook.

I didn't march one - but my favorite 10-man Snare line is the 1995 Velvet Knights under Paul Rennick. I believe they finished in the top 5 (or even 2!) in SemiFinals in percussion, but since the corps did not make finals.....there it went.
