Was Chuck Mangione horrified when corps members told him to cut off the third valve? Carmine (Vanilla Fudge drummer) kinda spaced out during parts of the telecast. It was "Wasn't that great Carmine... Carmine???". <few second delay> "Yeah wow" followed by a really interesting insight from someone looking at the fan perspective. (He's still my fav guest announcer.) There was a film clip of Chuck (back in the 2v G days) asking corps members (anyone remember the corps?) "What can I do to get my flugelhorn to sound like a corps horn". Corps in unison yells "Cut off the third valve". CM got a look like the kids told him to cut off a certain piece of his anatomy.
