Cardman
I'm going to assume this is for this year though I know you said not to describe the corps' shows but the actual corps (good luck with that...) Blue Devils = Excellence Cavaliers = Drill Bluecoats = Refining Carolina Crown = Hornline! Holy Name Garfield Cadets of Bergen County sponsored by youth education in the arts = Speed Phantom Regiment = Melodic Santa Clara Vanguard = Vibe Blue Stars = Real Boston Crusaders = Tradition Madison Scouts = Exciting Blue Knights = Unique Glassmen = Persistant I was trying to be nice with some of these. I gotta say, just ONE word is really not enough to describe these corps. You need at LEAST two...

GeneralTsoChicken
Blue Devils- Casual (some members of the soprano line brought lounge chairs to a rehearsal in Katy, Tx in 2002 that I was at) Cadets- Sleepless (we always heard rumors about one season, where their luggage didn't come off the bus for 2 whole weeks) Santa Clara Vanguard- Savoir-faire (look it up, if you need to) Phantom Regiment- Iterative (once someone likes something they do, you see it over and over and over and over... and over) Madison Scouts- Piquant (always something there, like a spicy soup with a bland sandwich) Crown- Progeny (a staff full of greats from other corps, raising the young of a new group) Cavaliers- Supercilious (I'll never forget the "green jolly rancher" era, where cavaliers members would goof off in retreats and try to get jolly ranchers into the plumes, shakos, and feathers of other corps) Troopers- Antediluvian (clinging to the past, but not in a bad way)
Drum Corps Nation
Here we go... I'll just do world class.. Blue Devils - Overrated (I'll go ahead and tick some people off) Cavaliers - Machine Carolina Crown - Bando (and again) Cadets - Hopkins Phantom Regiment - Classic Bluecoats - Power Santa Clara Vanguard - Classy Blue Stars - Tarpon (as in Tarpon Springs) Boston Crusaders - Tradition Madison Scouts - Entitled (by past success) Blue Knights - Hippies Glassmen - BorinG Colts - Semifinals The Academy - Potential Troopers - America Spirit - Cheesy Crossmen - Bones Pacific Crest - Surfers Teal Sound - Amplification Jersey Surf - Pop Cascades - Green Pioneer - Last
BoyWonder1911
^ Hey, Pioneer hasn't always gotten last, you know. Spirit cheesy?? Hmm...I've never thought of cheesy when thinking about Spirit. Also very curious on the Blue Knights being hippies! LOL Care to elaborate on that one?
Shamu89
Cadets- Sleepless (we always heard rumors about one season, where their luggage didn't come off the bus for 2 whole weeks) LOL! My daughter marches there, and 'Sleepless' is a good word, although I think that rumor's not true. ;) This year in the winter the members had a corps conference call with a director from another top corps as the guest speaker. He said that during finals week they work on cleaning and getting more rest and sleep for the members since they're not travelling. After he said that, Hop said, " . . . More sleep . . . yeah, we don't do that." My daughter also decided to not bother with an air mattress this year since she barely used the one she had last year except as an uninflated floor pad. She didn't think it was worth it to spend the time trying to get it blown up considering how little floor time they had. Having said all that, she wouldn't change a thing. She'd rather be on tour over doing anything else in the world, and plans on aging out as a Cadet in 2014.

7567BC
I'm not going to think about this very much, I'm just going to take the first thing that comes to my head. Blue Devils - latin Cavaliers - machinery Cadets - emotional SCV - Christmas (green and red?) Crown - cake (no idea) Phantom - classical Bluecoats - "300" (their helmets remind me of the movie "300") Blue Stars - fuzzy Scouts - pine (again, no idea) Blue Knights - bowling (their logo reminds me of the pin set-up) Glassmen - triangle Colts - ketchup crossmen - Zorro Mandarins - asians Pacific Crest - the ocean? Teal Sound - electronic clarinets (sorry! but it's the first thing that came to mind!) hmmm Pioneer - clovers Spirit - hourglass (the first time I went to a live DCI show, Spirit was doing a show called "Time". Believe that was 2002?) Cascades - Giantkillers (when they were successful in 2002, someone in the DCI media said they were going to be Giant Killers. Too bad that didn't actually happen. But I still hope. I love this corps to death.) Jersey Surf - Jersey Shore Academy - David (my friend who lives in Phoenix. He has nothing to do with DCI, other than I took him to a competition once. He loved it. That was in 2004.) ... Legends - of the Hidden Temple Capital Regiment - storm (remember when they played their New World Symphony show in a rainstorm and the crowd went nuts.) Blue Devils B - brand x Blue Devils C - brand y bridgemen - bananas! Ahh...forget anyone?
7567BC
These are things that stand out as an identity, IMO, from each corps through the years Blue Devils - frustratingly (for some) consistent Cavliers - killer drill (started years ago with Brubaker and has been smoking every year since) Cadets - pretentious (they just are) Bluecoats - musical (always entertaining) Crown - bandlike but louder SCV - class (loved their "look" on the field) Phantom - classic (event with different shows they always seem to be "Phantom", no mistake abouth them) Madison - brassy (from years ago with their screaming sops) Boston - perseverance (71 years baby, seems to be the only ones left standing) Crossmen - had it, looking for it again, getting there Spirit - big sound (abain from years ago) Blue Stars - re-establishing themselves Troopers - drum corps comfort food Blue Knights - trying Glassmen - ? music That's all I have.
