Gilesinkt
Kevin Gamin, You are my hero... THANKS for the play by play! from a Spirit of Atlanta mom stuck in Texas until Wednesday!
kevingamin
160BPM. Good opening from the brass, though a little dirty. This has been the weakest section of the show each time I've seen them. I'm hearing more missed releases during this piece. Yeah, still rough, although the final moments of the show are powerful. This is an aggressive show and you have to give the design team credit for taking chances. If they only had a couple more weeks...A famous phrase in drum corps. kevingamin
Next on the field are the Mandarins from Sacramento, California. Their 2011 program is entitled "The Forty Thieves: An Ancient Tale of Spices, Toxins, and Perfumes" and consists of: Octabones by PercaDu Spices, Perfumes, and Toxins by Dorman, Avner

kevingamin
Drum major's got a full goatee. Makes him look overage. :D
kevingamin
I like the opening. Very mysterious. By the way, are the sleeves still 3/4 length? I think they are and the corps is wearing gauntlets under the sleeves and on their wrists, correct?
kevingamin
Nice opening statement chord from the horns, very minor, discordant, modern, and awesome. :D
kevingamin
Oops, couple missed notes in the upper baris during their soli. Very exposed, gotta nail that part.
kevingamin
Mellophones now doing their soli, kind of ragged on a very difficult part. Nice crescendo to the release by the horns!
kevingamin
Not hearing the tubas from behind the horns. There's 10 of them, which is enough to project. Wait, there they are. :D
