scv9396
What type of Smartphone do you use? Corps are starting to come out with APPs for smartphone devices mainly iPhones but can get costly for a corps to produce an APP for each platform. Maybe this poll will help develop more APPs for other devices or is it better to develop a mobile website, another way around the APP market entirely. jjeffeory
It's probably a good idea to wait for HTML5 to fully emerge and develop to that with considerations for mobile devices' smaller screens in mind.
Kamarag
The app market is where the best development is. The web market is trying to redefine itself for mobile, and much of the time, the results are mixed at best. Anyone programming in Flash is going to be years behind the curve. HTML 5 is the wave of the future, and its emerging now to great success, at least as far as streaming content goes. I'm much more likely to us an app than a mobile web site. Developers have much more flexibility and customization options when developing apps, especially for iPhone. There's a heck of a lot more money there as well.

The reason a lot of companies are going to the mobile website route though is so they won't have to develop an app for each OS, which can get quite tedious. I don't like it, and I think it's a way to lose more users/viewers, but that's just the way it is.

As an iPhone user I like the idea my phone OS is based on a stable platform. Edited September 29, 2011 by Mello Dude

Mello Dude
apple likes that you think that way LOL..nope. I work in IT\Telecom and UNIX (which is what Mac OS is based on) vs Windows (I'm a windows guy s also) and there is no contest on stability. Apple is also FAR more stable and they actually have a good control on their apps, releasing them and quality control. Droid does not.

Apple wants you to think that everything Mac OS and iOS is more stable than everything else, because they are. The quality control they have and their attention to detail, although annoying to some people sometimes, is the best in the industry.
