Vanguard07
A couple corps marched Ludwigs not too long ago (2006 and 2007). Those drums were crap. They looked bad and sounded bad. Magic used them in 05 and 06 and I recall from 2005 that they had all sorts of issues; some members of the drumline actually coined the phrase "Ludwig: the worst reason to play drums". Being that 2005 was their first year back in the the marching perc community after a lengthy hiatus, product issues were to be expected. Concerning the issue many people are citing with customer service, I definitely recall seeing a Ludwig representative visit us pretty frequently on tour. Granted, Magic, along with Southwind, were the only D1 corps using their products that year, so they really didn't have much to spread themselves thin over. Scatfish
If you're into Scottish drumming, Premier absolutely owns the market. Their pipe drums are well and above the most customizable drums available to tweak just about every facet of the sound the drums make. That said, even though they're worn, they're not really "marched" on a field... and I agree, they're heavy. Mike I love how you call it Scottish drumming! Not sure I understand the whole they haven't marched on a field...we use them like many corps in the UK do and we all march around on a field? Vanguard07
Has anyone got anything good to say about Premier? Why? You're doing a fantastic job cheerleading for them all by your lonesome. I do hope you're getting some kind of a kickback.
MarchingUSA
Hi All, Premier is back in the US :) Some facts: Marching USA is the sole importer of Premier educational, marching and concert/orchestral instruments into the US and Canada. The drumset distributor will be announced at NAMM. Marching USA is based in Fort Worth, Texas :) and has a 10,000 sq ft warehouse and demo area. Due to historical spare parts and service challenges, the first container received by Marching USA included over $25k of spare parts predominantly for the Revolution range of drums, therefore all spares are available now and in the US. Premier has a full range of battery and pit products including Vibraphone. Our next show will be TMEA, where we will be exhibiting battery products with various premium/chrome finishes, keyboards including marimba, vibe and xylo and a 36" free floating shell concert bass drum - its a beast. Marching USA also offers a full range of very strong, heavy guage steel field frames, they have a 3 year warranty and are manufactured in Texas to our specification. FYI all Premier field keyboards are supplied on Marching USA frames. The weight of the Revolution snare is 15.8 lb Premier percussion will be seen on the field in competition in 2012 in both DCI and DCA circuits. Historical Premier users include Star (many years), 07 Jersey Surf, 96 Phantom Regimant, 85 SCV, 93 Blue Knights, 86 Sky Riders, Crossmen, Troopers and Mandarins, see our Facebook page to find links for most of these groups - http://www.facebook.com/marchingusa All the staff at Marching USA have extensive drum corps back grounds, please feel free to contact any of us - Marilyn, Matt, Terry and Roger. There's just a lot of negativity, I'm just praising that they're trying to restore the company to their position in the past. Can't help that I have interest in my local economy, this is a British business and all I care about is that it continues on. How would you like it if all the American manufacturers were to close down?

LOLOLOLOL America's economy is a joke, we've been losing companies to outsourcing left and right, but that's really not what this is about. Well it is to me, I actually care about things like this. If you don't then that's your own choice. I really do hope that the distribution channel through MarchingUSA is successful. I think what Roger posted above really does show that there has been a lot of work put into making this all happen.

flammaster
I seriously think BD is going to stay with King. I just can't see BD going back to Ludwig though.
