skywhopper
Looks like the Colts premiere at FirstBEAT in Ft Mill, SC on Monday with Crown, Cadets, Cavies, and Crossmen, then there are more east coast dates with the Cadets--those will be great shows to win some new fans who don't often get to see the Colts. BozzlyB
Colts are wrapping up Cornfield Tour, where they have camp in several towns and do "Dog and Pony" shows for for the locals. This is a great way to thank the communities that support us and expose new folks to drum corps. The Colts were in DeWitt last night, and have history night tonight. Tomorrow night is the Summer Premiere at Loras College in Dubuque, then hit the road to drive overnight to the East Coast. There are several Colt Cadets from the Madison area, so when the opportunity to do the show came up we were excited to say "YES!" The kids are loading buses right now, so if you are on highway 151 in the next hour keep your eyes open! I have to say Colts often have some of the more interesting fringe activities for their members.

Plus how cool is it that the east coast shows are all corps that start with a C Carolina Crown Cadets Cavaliers Crossmen Colts It's the new 5 C's (or 6 if you count Carolina & Crown)

It is pretty cool to see about 500 people in the stands of a small-town high school enjoying themselves....with hot dog tents from the local fire department, kids playing on the equipment and dancing near the field, nursing home residents lined up for the best seats, corn in the background, all the small-town charm stuff, then a huge wall of sound from the field (And that is just the Colt Cadets ) Here is a shot from the "Brass n Brats" show a couple weeks ago: We also washed about 900 cars last Saturday, with Colts and Colt Cadets working together in 19 teams across 40 miles. Good Times...

Good Times... What's funny is I still remember all those things from '94...cornfield tour, washing cars (memorial day weekend), all of it. Also remember riding the bus up when Floyd would drive from Alabama up to Dubuque each month for camps, picking up members along the way. Such fond memories!
