brians Posted August 14, 2012 Share Posted August 14, 2012 I would like to know how the judges are selected for prelims, semis, and finals. Who selects them and decides what night they judge? Secondly, and most importantly, what is the pocess for determining who is on what pannel. Are they randomly picked out of a hat?, or do select individuals get to choose who is on what pannel...and if so, who are they?. Well, that is false. I had the FINALS judging panel sent to my phone before Quarterfinals even started. This was directly from a corps staffer. The Blue Devils were undefeated at 9-0 vs. Crown heading into the Quarters, and undefeated against all others at 21-0 going into the Quarters. So " the trends of the season " was not a forehead palm slapper as to who looked to be a good shot to win it all last Wednesday or Thursday morning. BD won against just about every judging panel combination imaginable this season. I really liked Carolina Crown this season. But most observers knew that their percussion line last Week was not suddenly going to be a top scoring line at Championships... no mattter what the overall judging combinations were going to be at Quarters, Semi's, Finals. Seems way to easy for potential abuse to take place here. Especially when looking at the recaps over the course of the season. The finals panel was made up of almost all thr judges that viewed crown the most unfavorably in comparison to the rest of the field. Especially both ge vis judges. 1 Ge music judge. As well as visual analysis and colorguard. All those captions were judged by those who had the largest spreads below blue devils all season. I'm not saying there's a conspiracy, im just saying.... There's a conspiracy. :-) That's a pretty bold statement, considerations it's highly unlikely you ever heard any of this year's judges tapes, or saw the sheets. There's a conspiracy. :-) Based on some of the previous comments and from what I saw in the recaps- What if they had a more "sympathetic panel" to meet your standards? BD was still 9-0 vs Crown. I have a feeling the most desireable combination for you would narrow the gap by at most .3 to .5. Perhaps the more sympathetic panel that you desired judged an earlier round. And guess what- BD still won every round. Had Crown won one of the preliminary rounds, your conspiracy theory may have carried some weight, and the operative words are "may", and "some".
