hostrauser
Who cares if there's risk if achievement isn't there? Well, based on 2009 Blue Devils' brass book alone, not DCI.

JamMan
Well, based on 2009 Blue Devils' brass book alone, not DCI. I'm not in on this joke. Is it because they wrote a hard book and couldn't play it?
JamMan
One of my favorite Crown moments !! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nA0H_NbBZfw I liked it better when Madison did it every year from around 1977 to today.

Popular Post JamMan
Just curious, do you not like Crown or something? I'm just tired of "High and Mighty" mentality I see from Crown fans on here. It's from the ones that only show up once the season has started and turn every Crown thread into a BD-bashing thread. And any legitimate discussion or critique gets met with a ton of downvotes and personal insults. It's sad and it's frustrating. I want to like Crown, but their fans keep pushing me away. But, that is not Crown's fault. They're a relatively new corps that has relied on big names to grow their fanbase (obviously a great strategy, as that's what every corps does). But as a result of their fast expansion, you get a lot of people new to the activity that thinks the corps can do no wrong, so when you point out that they're doing things that other corps have done the year before, for example, it results in a cascade of attacks from band moms and high schoolers. That isn't fun, and it doesn't help the discussion here on DCP. It's really to the point where I can't mention 2009 without being saying how bad BD's show was and that Crown should have won. Or I can't say how weird that solo guard performer was during their percussion feature last year, because they're doing easy things that corps usually have done in sync with other members. Or I can't point out how their brass line's clarity and volume drops dramatically when they move. Hello! I'm pointing out the very reasons Crown did not win colorguard content and only barely won brass! How about their bland pit book every single year? They lug out 4 or 5 marimbas, only to have them play everything in octaves in unison rhythm. They've got a lush brass book behind them, yet up front there is very little harmony to be found (it's gotten better over the years, but is still miles behind books like BD and Cadets). You can disagree with me on any of those points. I encourage it. I'll change my views if anyone can point out errors or misconceptions. What I can't stand is just being called wrong, dismissed, and then watch the haters whine about how DCI is snubbing them again. TL;DR It's the fans I don't care for, not the corps. PS Their 2007 show is still my favorite from them. Great music, awesome concept, and something truly original.
