JimF-LowBari
Took me a while to get up the energy to type. Some promising signs since last Fridays "Hell Mtg" but long way to go and no idea how far back Kris will come. Moved out of ICU and into Neuro Wing of the hospital. She is now responsive, talking and kind of eating soft stuff. Took a while for the swallow mechanism to kick in but now having nausea and bad stomach pains at times which kills eating much. The GI doc is supposed to check her out tomorrow to try to find a possible problem. First they thought the problem was no having solid food for 3 weeks but this is lasting too long. Also on almost double the normal dosage for anti-seizure meds which is messing up thinking, physical therapy and mood (just too groggy at times). Next step sometime is going to nursing home for therapy as not ready for 3+ hours a day of therapy. Less than 3 hours go to nursing home, 3+ hours go to physical therapy complex. No idea how long she would be in the nursing home place. Long week, too many questions and too long road ahead to think too far ahead..... BigW
Sounds like it will be a long road back. I was thinking of you and Kris when I saw you just posted. I pray for both of you to have the inner strength to get this beaten.
JimF-LowBari
OK on full diet and as of yesterday moved to sub-acute care for therapy, etc. Sub-acute = can do less than 3 hours theray a day = nursing home care = not all of this stuff is covered by insurance. But mind is there and spirit is up since she is out of the hospital and has a nice roomie. And she got that bleepin' PICC line out. Small steps but in the right direction but no idea how long this will be and if next step is acute care (3 hrs and covered) or home cuz she plateaued.... Man 5 weeks ago tonight this all hit the fan.....

theCHEZman
Health is the most important thing in the world and the second is for that person and family to have a great support network. Praying for patience and wisdom through this temporary setback for you and your wife.

goalieguy
Hang in there Jim! Our situation has somewhat calmed down, but underlying shadows still linger. Will fill you in later - you and Kris need to concentrate on her and getting better. Keep us posted, bro. Pat
