Kris will follow you with her eyes and squeeze hand on request and that's been about it They have been sedating her a bit at times because it seems if someone or someone she knows is in with her, her arm and head starts to shake and can't tell if upset, excited or small seizure. Dr says it took a while to build so should take a while to heal. But.... no one willing to guess how far she will heal. Pressure in her head is back to normal or close to it and given extra meds which could zonk her. Amazed how many corps people asking about this lil lady who never did corps..... Hey brother - sorry, been a bit distracted out here. Sending extra notes to the clan to put some extra work in on the beads for you and Kris. IM or PM me if stuff changes.. Stay positive, sir. For a week plus docs saying extra fluid pressure in the head is the culprit. Long story short, there was NO extra pressure and docs now scratching various body parts about that. They took out the outside drain yesterday and Kris is aware (when not sleeping) and gets out a few words before tiring out. OK, at least the mind is good. No idea what caused this crap in the first place and giving Kris so much meds I'm surprised she is awake at all. Hope she rests and gets better each day so they can cut the meds eventually. JimF-LowBari Posted March 6, 2014 Author Share Posted March 6, 2014 Still in scary area W but thanks. Plan now is do an MRI to see if anything nasty shows up, emphasis on the if. Docs have looked for an infection since she went in and everything except one thing points to possible infection. Unfortunately the missing piece is they can't FIND an infection. Bit of possible pneumonia in one lung, slight seizure activity on the eeg at times and the lady is just worn out. Sleeping off and on tonight and let her sleep. JimF-LowBari Posted March 7, 2014 Author Share Posted March 7, 2014 Thanks all, had the doctor team/family meeting today and that is never a pleasant experience. Still some seizure activity and #1 is to stop that so the brain can start to recover. As we've been told before, having a seizure is like your brain running a marathon and it needs to recover from the effort. In Kris' case it's a bunch of mini-marathons with little rest in between. So lots of meds until then which are sedating. And always the worry of the effects of being worn out and bedridden long term regarding breathing and possible infection. At least she appears to be pain free and when awake can follow what is being said. Even if it's nodding and shaking her head to answer. As one doc said, some patients with the amount of meds she is on are not even awake. But if she make thru this, long term rehab awaits.
