oldsoprano
I think we had about 60 horns (just six contras) in Spirit of Atlanta in the late 70s, and I think the volume we put out would hold its own against pretty much anyone these days. Of course we had a couple of HUGE advantages -- G bugles and Jim Ott.
davidmccain
I first saw SoA in 1980 in Memphis - very haunting night and when I hear Let it be me, I re-live that night.
bluesman
I first saw SoA in 1980 in Memphis - very haunting night and when I hear Let it be me, I re-live that night. You can see that very performance on You Tube. It was part of "Blues in the Night" which I believe was hosted by the Memphis Blues Brass Band. davidmccain
Yeah. I had friends in MB3 which is why I was there that night.
oldsoprano
I was there too, with Spirit. We had two vans on the road, and I was driving the other van the night of the wreck.

N.E. Brigand
As I guessed after Saturday's showing, my predictions were low (82.10; 81.80; 81.70; 74.50; 71.30)--and I'm very pleased to see that they were low for Boston--but I almost got the spread between Crown and Bluecoats exactly right. DrumManTx
If Crown's GE scores were matching their music and visual, they'd probably be on top. Interested to see what they do over the 6 days they're taking off to fix that.
