2015 Programs and Playlist:

Recommended Posts

I have verified the legitimacy with the journalist that authored the article.

JUDGEMENT: Not deleting.

Thanks for the input though! I'm glad people are into it enough to care.

I think someone mentioned this earlier, but just to show its official:

We knew that already, but at least we know they haven't changed it.

Although they did reveal the other two pieces they were using, and also what direction they were taking with "spark of invention"!

EDIT: Phrased less unintentially abrasive

For some reason I thought that was covered at the banquet. I have a friend in Vanguard so I get confused with what we're supposed to know.

Santa Clara Vanguard 2015: "The Spark of Invention"

http://www.scvanguard.org/programs/vanguard/2015/show.cfm

Added Pure Imagination and Concerto for Piano and Orchestra to OP and Playlist.

Interesting indoor percussion show from this winter. Also using Pure Imagination and a similar color palette. Probably more steam-punk than SCV's approach. But still ...

The Process of Invention

Finally getting around to DCI The Magazine: Vol 9, No 1.

Added the following:

Blue Devils - tba (ways imagination can come to life)
Music selections:
Works of Stephen Sondheim
Original music by Gordon Goodwin
Blue Knights - Because
Music selections:
I'm Alive - by Adam Watts
Fly to Paradise - by Eric Whitacre
Carolina Crown - Inferno
Symphony No. 9
All except the original Goodwin and unspecified Sondheim selections have been added to the playlist.

The vast majority of people seem to think Crown's program is "Abandon All Hope".....though it's not definite

Haven't watched that video yet, but the image of gears and someone in a hamster-wheel suggests two marching band shows from last fall's BoA: Archbishop Alter for the former and Tarpon Springs for the latter (except that in that case it was someone on a giant rotating but stationary globe).
