Yorkvillain
BD lost to Cavies in Allentown that year before losing to Phantom. Cappy was responding to the question "What corps do you know won semi-finals...only to loose the championship the next night?" So he was right about 2008 BD.
Yorkvillain
Also BD in 1995. Went undefeated until quarters. Cavies made their move. Then Cadets passed them too. Great year none the less. Agreed, 1995 was my favorite top 4 ever.
Yorkvillain
1983 Vanguard won Semis, Garfield went from 3rd to 1st and won Finals. 1999 Blue Devs took Prelims and Semis and SCV tied them at Finals. Not a loss, but close. Same thing happened in 2000, Cadets took the first two, then Cavs tied them. Going back further, 1974 Scouts won Prelims, then Vanguard won Finals the next night. 1972 Vanguard won Prelims, Anaheim Kingsmen won Finals the next night. Vanguard actually dropped to 3rd, 1/10th of a pt behind Blue Stars for 2nd. Garfield actually tied for 2nd in semis with BD in 83.
Yorkvillain
Several "almosts" come to mind, but not many that were able to complete it. Of those "almosts" that haven't been mentioned yet: 1995 Blue Devils (lost in the final week) 1992 Star of Indiana (lost in the final week) 1987 Santa Clara Vanguard (lost in the final week) 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard (lost.....one show that year I think in the first week?) 1989 Phantom Regiment (didn't lose until the final week I think?) I'm sure there are many others but just can't think of them right now hehe. Cavaliers beat Star in mid-June in 1992. And Cavaliers also beat Phantom early in 1989. mboogey73
Pre DCI I think perhaps the 70 Troopers went undefeated. But from DCI period (1972) onward it's mostly been Blue Devils. BD 1982, 1994, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014 - 6 total The Cadets 2000 (never lost a show, but Cavaliers did tie them in the end for the title) The Cavaliers 2002 That's it to my knowledge. The Cadets 1983 had a shot, but lost in semi-finals before winning Finals. BD 1986 almost did it, but lost their first show BD 1988 almost did it, but after going undefeated all season then lost to Madison at semifinals, and to Madison and SCV at Finals. You guys have me reliving past glory. 94 BD was dominant. I think only one Corps came within a point of us all year and that was Cadets finals night. mfrontz
BD lost to Cavies in Allentown that year before losing to Phantom. Incorrect. The 2008 DCI Eastern Classic was held over two nights. Cavaliers won Friday night, BD Saturday night. Although the Cavies score Friday evening was .25 higher than the Devs on Saturday, it was a different night, and so not a 'victory.'
