elephanttalk
In a strange twist of two interests, I'm currently watching the US play Jamaica in the CONCACAF Gold Cup (losing BTW). But the DCI side of me is looking at the GeorgiaDome surface which is currently GRASS for the soccer. Now... There is a second game tonight that won't be done until probably midnight eastern. The question is... Will they leave the grass down for the DCI regional or... Is it back to the fieldturf?
CrownBariDad
After all these years being turf, I can't imagine them making a change now. If they had, I'm sure we would have heard something by now.
elephanttalk
I'm just thinking there won't be enough time to get the grass up AND get the FieldTurf brushed and ready for Sat AM. My guess is... They're gonna be on grass.
KVG_DC
Grass would mean no tarps. Unless since it's temporary grass they don't give a crap about it being torn up after the show. Also, scores are in for the first show there tonight... :(
elephanttalk
It is temp grass for sure. Also I believe tarps were on the field in Denver which is also grass.
BlueStainGlass
Wouldn't surprise me for turf to be put down. This is the worest turf field I've ever marched on. It's like marching on wet grass with all their rubber and the hashes are never painted.
Fran Haring
Isn't a professional venue like this used to short turnarounds from one surface to another?
KVG_DC
Oh wait... They'll pull the temporary grass up and use the turf underneath. Yard lines.
CarolinaNative
They'll yank the grass up as soon as the second game is done tonight. They'll work til it's done, so I'd bet on it looking like the normal Georgia Dome by Friday.
crownisking
Like CarolinaNative said, the turf will be back in time for Saturday's show. That's the answer I got from the staff at the Georgia Dome when I called.
