BigW
Hershey had no alcohol. Don't think Franklin Field did. Don't believe Allentown did. And this was back in the old days with the larger crowds showing up from 1977-1984.
JimF-LowBari
Can't see no beer as a reason not to go. Some of our friends had a few at DCA Weekend but didn't see anyone crap faced at any time anywhere. Personally the talk of old phartes getting drunk and needing their beer will keep younger people and their families away more than the truth of what really goes on. Gary Matczak
There are some very iconic exceptions; where stadiums are used by schools and other community organizations. Nothing dry about this historic location, no matter what event. August 6, 2016---Kiltie Klassic Invitational https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horlick_Field Kilties MN Brass Govies CHOPS Erie Thunderbirds Cincinnati Tradition Gotta love it!!! so wait,...............I could have purchased beer at this show last year? BigW
I am quite sure I have purchased beer at a show in Hershey,............ You may have, Gary- it could be that the stadium prices back in that era were so bad that we just took stuff with us or went to Mickey D's afterwards. I remember the HS competitions and one of our trumpet players in our band telling the concessionaires his hot dog was bigger than the excuse for one the concession stand was trying to sell him... bill
so wait,...............I could have purchased beer at this show last year? Hi Gary, the show is back at Historic Horlick Field for 2016. In 2015 there was a scheduling conflict and the show was held at J. Case High School. Being back at Historic Horlick Field.......it's time to let the brew and brats flow---and smok'em if ya got'em. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horlick_Field As a historical side-note, there is a long understanding with the City of Racine that drum corps shows have priority for dates for the use of Horlick through and including all 4th of July weekends; after any 4th weekend---it's a balancing act working round the semi-pro football team's (Racine Raiders) schedule, city softball tournaments, etc.

Fran Haring
I loved the Scranton stadium bar as much as the next guy, but it wouldn't bother me one bit if DCA Championships were held in a venue that was alcohol free. Frankly, if the deciding factor for a fan to attend championships is based on alcohol availability, I'm not sure I even care. That clearly isn't the fan DCA is (or should be) marketing to. Besides, anywhere the event is held will have local bars and restaurants that folks can meet up at post-show, which they'd likely do anyway. This. On the money. As a person once said on either FB or here, I forget which... if someone can't go two or three days without an alcoholic beverage, as either a fan or marching member, then that someone has bigger problems than any of us can fix....LOL Edited March 24, 2016 by Fran Haring
