Ray Priester
Pepe Notaro. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't recall EVER seeing Pepe with a bari in his paws. Soprano or french horn in all the time that I knew him. Ray
ech2os
Was that a French Horn solo during It Don't Mean a Thing with Hurcs in the early 80's?

Michael Oldemeyer
Does anyone know who played the baritone solo at the beginning of Vesti la Giubba in 91 Regiment? That person had awesome tone. Way to fill up the horn (and stadium)! Chris? Nikk? Michael Oldemeyer

Tsar Nikk
Does anyone know who played the baritone solo at the beginning of Vesti la Giubba in 91 Regiment? That person had awesome tone. Way to fill up the horn (and stadium)!Chris? Nikk? Michael Oldemeyer <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was Matt "Smiley" Chapman. I'll never forgive him for being a vet and taking my solo. :P But I got him back at DCM and DCI I&E Championships. Heh heh... As for great bari soloists... Man, James Hosmer was simply THE MAN. The 1987 solo near the end of the show = TASTY. The 1988 solo when he jumps the octave...in the original it's a bassoon (even though with most recordings it sounds like an English Horn). He just nails it. The 1989 solo...as much as I disliked that "jazzy" section of the show, James sold it. I met him last year in Orlando and he gave me some beers...I thought it was funny...he was saying how good it was to meet me at last, and I was thinking the same exact thing. One heck of a nice guy, and a great talent.
