cabalumnidrummer
The 1978 Santa Clara photos are in J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, PA at the DCI East prelims, most likely. (In '78 I believe it was called the Allentown School District Stadium.)
john2780
..take a look at the IC Reveries guy whose out of stepWhen I saw this I figured I knew who it had to be. (The guy I'm thinking of not only marched out of step and out of phase. In later years when he was with 27th, Jim Wedge would plug his mouthpiece as we entered the field! Keith Hall can probably ques who I'm thinking of. ) After looking at it I'm not quite sure who it is but he should have been spanked! Knowing the contra player behind him, I think he probably did. BTW, its not me. Could he have "lost his bearings" at such a young age"
john2780
I always thought that looked cool, the cymbal players marching backward in front of the snares. Probably why I took that shot. From Left to right. Tenors: ME!! , Joe Kelley (later of NorthStar Fame), John Sweeny Snares: Tommy Upton, Arthur Shannon (another NorthStar legend), and Tom"Jumbo" Shaheen Boy That was a L O N G time ago
john2780
I like these photos. Thanks. We had a nice time watching 78 finals in Denver. What stadium were the photos taken and is the drummer wearing a whistle? That would be my bud Pete Romo and Im sure he used the whistle somewhere in the 78 show! lnavis
Without looking at your signature, I know you had to be from Wisconsin!I once thought of moving up to WI and opening a bait/fireworks/cheese/beer/porno store. There is a place called Monona Bait and Ice Cream. It has great ice cream. They have gummy worms in the case with the ice cream.

The audience ran under the stands, but there was no place for the Scouts to go. They were soaked. I think if you look close they are not wearing any hats as a result. Baja, Thanks for posting these great pics from '71 World Open. Keep them coming! BTW, we [scouts] were wearing envelope caps. The shot is from "March of the Wooden Soldiers" from the "Alice" show.
