bluecoats88
Were you talking to me? (two dollars to Robert Deniro...) I clearly said the only change I would want would be to not allow amped vocals. I have no problem with amped pits. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope, I was talking to Jeff Ream who last year kept saying he didn't see any change in stick heights or technique which was DCI's explanation for going to the amped pits. I was just commenting that this year the pits did start playing with more proper technique and lower stick heights since the amps were doing the projection and they didn't need to.. deftguy
Have you ever marched on the field with 150-200+ people? I have, and it's packed.I'd like to have no woodwinds, no amplified voice, and to let D2 corps compete in quarterfinals. :) Edited to add that I'd really like to have an audience voting system at regionals. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try the 210 we had to deal with every year, you talk about crowded. I would like to see Drum corps go back to the ordinary non music major, non dance specialist kid. I also would like to see that DCI restructure itself so that it is not so expensive to march and go on tour.
PR_ducky
1 No Amplification 2 Back to the big bore 2 valve g bugles 3 Full retreat (loved it) 4 Seperate the Brass and Perc categories again, no more "music" judge 5 Defending Champ gets to go last 6 Bring back DCI Canada and the Montreal show, nothing like two 50 yard lines and an announcer who doesn't speak english 7 One extra free day for the kids Thats all that comes to mind LOL
Slow Adam
1. Bring back G bugles, I know they aren't against the rules, but every corps seems to have switched over. Can you imagine what SCV and Phantom would have been like on G's this summer? 2. Amped pits don't bother me so much anymore, they've for the most part figured out the initial balancing issues, but no human voice and no sampling please. 3. Keep the numbers where they are, 128 was good, 135 is good, but no more. 4. No woodwinds EVER.
MarineOnFire
I agree with all these ideas except for one, and that might just be because I just marched my first year and know nothing about old school drum corps. Whats the big deal about G-horns? I don't know much about them, but from what I understand, you are limited with the number of notes and keys you can play in, and on the B flat you are not, so what is so great about G? Sorry if I am a little clueless, I'm sure you all have good reasons.

People just feel that they had a much more fuller and louder sound/projection.

Take a listen to Phantom Regiment 1996.

This allowed for more air to be moved thru the horn and a more powerful (ie. louder AND balanced) sound. Its true that 99% of the shows in the days of G horns were either in the keys of G or F, but that didn't seem to be a problem then.
