PhantomR
What happens if and when the world finnaly runs out of gas for DCI? What will happen? I'm scared for my future in Drum Corps, because of Gas. Your fees are going up, Gas is running low... this could be bad. ~>conner
profhill
When we run out of oil basically our society is going to colapse, so Drum Corps would probably be the least of your worries.
bawker
Alternative energy, Conner. :) Hopefully, now that we're seeing people actually get hit over the head with gas prices out the wazoo, you'll see a bit more time and resources devoted to this by our country. Hybrid automobiles, and perhaps a little more of a fire under people to move the President's energy bill along. In other parts of the world (the UK comes to mind) these kinds of gas prices are the norm...and have been for a while. I suppose that the UK corps don't have to worry really, as they don't travel as much, though. :) I don't think it will get bad enough that we'll not see drum corps for a summer, but certainly, a few less shows may be in order if prices remain high through 2006. Oil prices, like the economy, are cyclical...so I'd expect we'll see things a little differently by the start of summer 2006.

The Pres and VP have nearly $100 million invested in oil and they want to drill in the Arctic. You think prices are going to go down. Not a chance. Drum corps better start rearranging their budgets.
