Dave_G
yes but BD was 100% clean also and had better musical selections depends on which style you like more, personally I'm more a fan of the Vanguard style from 97-03 so I'd disagree with you there (still loved BD 99 though B) ) Edited February 18, 2006 by d_grey
Decals
I like most of that list.... In fact a lot of my votes are there. BUT... Crown 04? Coats 05? Now, I even like Coats 05(Crown 04.... ummm.... ya....), and I think that's kind of dumb. There are better shows in the 2000's. I think these guys slipped in thanks to the "a corps can't have two shows" clause.
perc2100
This was just posted on the BOA forums (not by me):They announced the 2006 Classic Countdown Top 12 at a special viewing of the top three shows from 2005 at the Rivercenter Theater in San Antonio, Texas. The viewing was open to an exclusive number of people so it was fun to be in the audience! 1) 1975 27th Lancers 2) 1979 Blue Devils 3) 1980 Bridgemen 4) 1984 Garfield Cadets 5) 1988 Madison Scouts 6) 1989 Phantom Regiment 7) 1992 Crossmen 8) 1993 Star of Indiana 9) 1995 Cavaliers 10) 1999 Santa Clara Vanguard 11) 2004 Carolina Crown 12) 2005 Bluecoats A few nice surprises: * nice to see 27 from '75. Can't complain about that at all * Love the 'Suerte do los Tontos' version from '79 BD * gotta love being able to see In The Stone from 1980 Bridgemen, though I would've preferred a 'Black Market Juggler' show * 84 Garfield: AWESOME! One of my favorite shows that I can't wait to see on the big screen * 88 Madison. I'm in the minority of people who don't really like this show, but you can't complain about a good Madison show. I think this is a good representation of their style and execution * 89 Phantom * 92 Crossmen (!!!!!) * 93 Star * 95 Cavaliers * 99 SCV Four AMAZING shows that are the definition of 'classic' IMO. This is during my 'time' of most being ivolved in drum corps and I aboslutely love every one of these shows. I can't think of a better grouping of five shows that represent the different styles of the drum corps idiom. * 2004 Crown and 2005 Bluecoats. Good shows, but hardly "classic." It seems like if a show can have several members still of marching age then it shouldn't be considered for the "classic." I agree with the poster who said 2000 shows shouldn't be considered classics, with a few exceptions: if you won DCI any of those years I can buy the show being a 'classic.' 2000 Cadets, 2002 Cavaliers, and other Champions are classics, but top 7 shows from the past two years don't equal classics, IMO. No offense to anyone who marched in those shows: I'm a fan of both. But it's stretching to call them classics, IMHO. All that being said, I have few complaints and look forward to this year's show (if this is the final list). -- doug
Tone Quality Matters
This will make it 3 of the top 4 from 1980 that have made it in in just 2 years. That to me is amazing! 1980 was a pivotal and exciting year in DCI history. A true classic!!! Way to go America on those choices.

Coats show is classic in that this show puts an exclamation point on the kind of caliber corps they have always been, and are now being recognized for.
