Gentleman Marcher
I'm going to echo the love for 2003. Some of my favorite shows for every single corps, especially Cavies, Phantom, Madison (hey, I liked it!) and Crossmen. America/O' Canada was pretty sweet too! Matt_S
I'm going to echo the love for 2003. Some of my favorite shows for every single corps, especially Cavies, Phantom, Madison (hey, I liked it!) and Crossmen. America/O' Canada was pretty sweet too! I picked 2003 for it's quality throughout the field. Cavaliers, Blue Devils, Cadets, Santa Clara, Phantom, Bluecoats, Madison (me too!), Blue Knights, Boston Crusaders, Magic, Spirit, all some of my favorite shows from those respective corps. I could listen to any show from that list right now and be happy for it. :)
HOOKEDBYLEGEND78
My 3 favorite years are 1980, 1992, and 2004. Since I have to pick one, I'll go with 1992. Super talented Top 3, great Devils horn line, Madison had some sound and a fun show, best X-Men ever, SCV doing an emotional Fiddler, a talented Phantom in 8th and BK in 9th, and the amazingly entertaining VK in 10th!!! Coats and Freelancers rounded out Top 12, although I thought Glassmen should have made the big dance with their great arrangements and horn line (but doomed by drum scores). 1992, a great year for DCI w/ finals at the unofficial home of drum corps! NIGHTFLY3000
1996. Come on, two winners! First tie ever, and rightfully so. Plus the Phantom Drum Major, wow!
MAV
1980 If the classic countdown is any indicator, I believe it has the most fan selections of any year. 1980 - Spirit (Let it Be Me to the heavens) 1980 - 27th Lancers (Olympics & a nearly perfect guard) 1980 - Bridgemen (In the Stone...and the Bridgemen shuffle) And all the other corps reps were truly signature tunes. A true 'golden year' in drum corps. 1980 Corps List & Reps Madison Scouts "Malaguena" Cavaliers "Softly as I Leave You" (brass walking over the guard) Vanguard "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" (and their asymmetrical drill)
kmansdrummin
1975!! Madison was good, (can't stand the drum solo though, IMO) Santa Clara was EXCELLENT. Should've won, great book, and they had that superstar drumline! Blue Devils were up and coming with a cool jazz show. 27th, awesome off the line Blue Stars, man their drumline played everything under the sun! Etobikoke, awesome drum solo. My favorite year. penny96
secondedHonorable Mentions of 1989, 1993, 2003 I'd definitely agree with 1989. 1993, however enjoyable shows were, if we were going by marching sites, Jackson Mississippi was how would i say....unique. Nothing like having a police escort to the housing site, and then enjoying some fine practice time in the ghetto, complete with spectators sporting '40 oz. and crack houses just down the street. I wish I was making that up. I heard rumors of even worse things involving x-mens' housing. gotta go with 1995 as a very good year as well.
