K2SMA
Well said...(all science aside 3db doubling of power yada, yada....wave theory...yada, yada it's a Ham radio thing) but I like Steve's explanation better) b**bs Oh good, now I have someone else to help lean on Tornado to study for his ticket! He would definitely be DCA's "MR. SKYWARN" after the Arnold contest...
Jeff
From Loudest to softestCorpsVets - 104 Buccaneers - 102. Renegades - 101 (tie) Cabs - 101 (tie) Bushwackers - 100 Minesota Brass - 99 (tie) Empire Statesmen - 99 (tie) Brigs - 97 Carolina Gold - 96 Hurricanes - 95 Looks like never ending debate over volume in a G bugle vs. Bb/F brass line is a rather moot point, given this data. Snapettes Mom
I'm a believer on that. My ears are still ringing a year later from the O5 Finals parking lot performance from the Renegades hornline. Talk about power. Whoa! Mom Good info on the vibrations/distortions/in tune = louder. Jim McFarlain, the horn instructor for Renegades, has really hit that ball home w/ the hornline. LOUD may be good, but GOOD LOUD is better. You can't fake GOOD LOUD. :P
Fran Haring
Did you go to the Alumni show, I would love to see some of those numbers!! All I know is that at last year's Alumni show, Park City Pride's hornline would have registered somewhere in the area of "space shuttle launch" on a DB meter. :P Fran
sburstall
That would be "Jim McFarland" ... god of brass! Unlike Todd McFarland, demi-god of comic book artists. :P
tubajoe
anything above 90 DBs can cause serious hearing damage" What? Say, if you really wanna be tough, factor in how many brass players each corps had.
