Keith Laubhan
Well, they can if they want to... they just don't choose to anymore. I don't blame them. Edited September 20, 2006 by Keith Laubhan
triplefunk
Well, they can if they want to... they just don't choose to anymore. I don't blame them. agreed, how they would integrate that with the drill would be incredible especially for some corps that move crazy. If those corps do march tymps and do the insane moves, i'd drop dead with awe on how they pulled it off!!!
jonnyboy
For the same reason our military doesn't ride horses to battle, shoot muskets or put up the sails to cross the ocean.
GGarrett
I suppose they could if they wanted to, but todays sound requires a concert tymp and the marching tymps were totally different. The actual drum itself is unreliable in the tuning, and the bodies needed could be used elsewhere. With cymbals now being handled by front pit in many corps, I doubt most corps would go back to that. Interesting thought, though...

Ha ha! Well I'm sure someone still makes them. The Scouts alumni project wanted to march them, but we only located one corps that still had any around, and there wasn't enough time to make it work. ravedodger
I think they don't use them anymore because the kids aren't as tough these days. Stirring the pot even more. :P
