A few representatives from Kiwanis Kavaliers will be at the Park Vista, FL Marching Band Competition today, recruiting for our '07 season.

I think the reason Troopers are listed and Kiwanis isn't is Troopers have completed (more or less) the DCI review process while Kiwanis is working through that process right now....

And if you have any pics of Kiwanis from any year in uniform, please send them to tilt@artmastertilt.com so that we can use them for the new alumni website: http://kavaliers-alumni.org/ .....You can see a preview of the new site layout at: http://www.artmastertilt.com/ALUMNI.HTML and you can see a working preview of one of our new slideshows at: http://www.artmastertilt.com/COFtest.html/

Quick correction: We were at the FLANAGAN show.

Tilt hit it right on the head. I talked to the staff there, and there are a lot of updates coming up (And some I will tell you here)

New website: www.kiwaniskavaliers.org

It will be updated VERY frequently starting in the next day or so. Audition music will begin to be put up by next week. Along with the finalized staff, as they are being signed on. Large updates will be released very soon.

First camp is on December 1st-3rd, in Miami, Florida. The location is being finalized and locked down, and should be available within the coming weeks.

Today proved to us, as it will prove to you all, that Kiwanis Kavaliers is still in the mind of a lot of marching students, band directors, and plain ol' Corps people. At the show, we set up a large tent early in the morning. About two hours later, everything was running absolutely smoothly. We had a screen and projector set up, so whenever the bands would finish playing, we would play/show one of Kiwanis' show over the past few years. While bands played, we had a power-point running, showing the KK insignia, pictures, and the "DCI World Championships 2007" logo. At night, we pulled out the big (fun) guns, and set up a strobe light, rope light, up-right projector, circling the american flag over our heads (To show that we are indeed an American Corps now), and glow sticks. Thousands, and thousands of glow sticks. They were a hit. It was a lot of fun, talking with people who really wanted KK to come back, and with those who want to try out. People are obviously looking forward to these big changes, along with the move to Miami.

We had (And are still having) a raffle going, in which a free X-Box 360 is going to be given away at the first camp.

An announcement about the new director will be out soon. Again: Doug Darwin is NOT affiliated with the Kiwanis Kavaliers.

For those who were wondering: Kiwanis have been working with their board of directors, setting things up. They are being represented at the next DCI board meeting (I forgot to ask if we were at the last one -- sorry), and bringing all their new ideas changes with them.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a nice long nap. I've been up since 7 am, with only 3 hours of sleep behind that. There's more that I need to write, but I will leave it for tommorow when I can remember it.
