Cadets Suspend for 2024
bluehull replied to TheOneWhoKnows's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Diesel price per gal. in 2018 2,65 per gal. Diesel price per gal in 2023 4.49 per gal The average fuel to top off tanks in a freightliner, volvo. or kenworth tractor on tour is 130 gals every 3.5 days ( this is low ball ) The cost for three tractors during a 57 day tour in 2018 for these three was roughly $ 16,716..... In 2023 with the same consumption and tour length was approx. $ 28,333 This does not take into consideration West Coast corps extended mileage to and from Cal. and Ariz. The differential would have almost paid the wages of 2 Class 'A' CDL drivers for full tour. As mentioned by others, the commercial construction of props has to be substantial also. -

2023 DCI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
bluehull replied to arabica's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Nice non competitive moments for me Cavies being the Cavs.. like the show and exiting the field in style to their great street beat Cadets wearing their classic uniform to retreat . They upgraded the entire field with tradition. Scouts not making top twelve, but being very much a part of Championship night Not dragging out the scores with needless awards to commercial entities. Having the USMC playing the corps onto the field and corps carrying American, Canadian, British flags to retreat All of the corps making it a great finals regardless of their placing -

I think Grandpa Joe owns a campground. He has been crowing about haw great it would be for the Corps to stay in campgrounds while in Indy. -
Dci fans should be ashamed of themselves
bluehull replied to MikeBD's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
" BD fatigue " that is real... They keep winning and everyone else keeps losing. They earn all their championships because they are the best. They bring in the best mm's from wherever. Others keep losing their best mm's. They deserve all of their accolades. There is no disrespect, it is just that one cannot maintain enthusiasm and be overwhelmed by the same corps winning every year, while down in the ranks... corps wonder will it ever change and how long can they keep chasing the rabbit...... -

Stepping outside ? Outside of where ? Maybe you call camping towing a 35' trailer Maybe you could help by getting some platoon sized tents from government surplus and some unused M*A*S*H showers. Am sure the kids won't mind the Ticks and an occasional rattlesnake bite -

Troopers 2023

Stop nitpicking and ankle biting. The Troop is killing it.. It has been years and they are back !!!! -
You are correct. I watched equipment truck drivers doing three point turns just to get thru the gates. The drop trailers ( food trucks etc. ) were grounding and were remote from the buses. Management and staff have their own difficulties ( financial costs,, distance to housing etc. ) It is just too far into the city. It is understandable that several corps on a fine line are bypassing Atlanta.

Then establish an ethnic percentage limit to all potential MM's If the corps does not adhere to this, then they will not be allowed to tour.. This will end the issue... -
Escalating fuel cost and its impact on the 2022 tour
bluehull replied to DCFAN's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Some people that own 4500 lb. trucks haul 2800 Lb. cars out of ditches, plow snow, haul equipment that builds, repairs, and services vehicles and homes. They in many cases live in areas where the short wheelbase 2800 Lb cars ( or less ) are useless. of course if you live in Montpelier, Cambridge, Asheville, Austin, or Berkeley you have no problem ! Where i am, our low temp was -34 below, and we are still buried in snow. We are not the " last of the good listeners " Some people prefer to not have their young children at ground level when they are T-Boned by some imbecile. We will leave that up to the Pontificators -
Escalating fuel cost and its impact on the 2022 tour

You are correct 30 million gallions is not going to help . A single ITB ( integrated Tug/Barge ) running between Texas City and Jacksonville carries 10,500,000 gallons.. Just enough to keep about 420 stations open for 2 or 3 days We are swimming in oil. Whatever is happening has nothing to do with our oil resources. This is a purposeful reduction in our supply by whoever wants it to happen ! I work on a vessel that transports gas and #2 fuel. -

Just put my Dodge Cummins diesel pickup away. Will be driving a heap till it gets better. Diesel $5.06 here now. May be heading to $6.50. Even at Pilot or Flying J putting 250 gallons into a 10 wheel Volvo or Freightliner is going to run close to $1700. Hoping the corps can deal with this. No one saw this coming -

Saturday Aug. 14 - DCI Celebration - The last dance
bluehull replied to KVG_DC's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
NASCAR suffered due to hotels and motels tripling their rates during races at Daytona, Bristol, and Talladega. End result, they removed 15,000 seats at Daytona. The hotel chains misjudged the fans, and what they would tolerate or could deal with to watch an event. -
There will always be scores, however after driving an equipment tractor trailer for a couple of corps for ten years, and talking to the MM's, I was surprised at how many mentioned they were just enjoying the experience and not concerned about chasing a ring. Those interested in auditioning for a top 3 corps seemed to be around 15%. Most others were interested in making their present corps better.

Yes they did. Great feeling to see them with identity. This was my best LOS show. Smaller crowd true, but an appreciative enthusiastic. Personally I felt safer in the stadium yesterday than places I frequent on a regular basis. The corps were cranking, no holding back. In my opinion Music City smaller, but their best corps. Phantom being Phantom again. Smaller corps ready to grow now that they have their structure. Thanks to all of the corps for the effort and logistics to be there. Just feel they kept the needed link for the activity. Rindinaro and Potter made it interesting also. -
