garfield_cadets
I hate to see the all-female guard go too. :-( Edited November 14, 2006 by garfield_cadets
sburstall
Im a vis tech at Phantom Regiment and I saw Adam Sage at BOA this weekend. He wanted to get this announcement out and I told him I would be happy to post it for him! The Phantom Regiment will be holding open colorguard auditions for the 2007 season. Historically Phantom has marched an all female colorguard, but this year we will be opening spots for males as well. To clear up any confusion, the male members in the 2005 and 2006 shows played specific roles where in 2007, the male spots will be the same as the females. Again, this is an open audition! Please visit www.regiment.org for audition information! Ben Firkus Madison 01-04 Crown Vis Tech 05 Regiment Vis Tech 06, 07 Ummm, I thought PR was co-ed last season. So how is this news?? OboeBrad
Ummm, I thought PR was co-ed last season. So how is this news?? Last season (and the year before) the guys in the guard were for a specific role, (the american, mephisto, etc) not just part of the guard. Technially they were in the guard, even if they did fill specific roles.
shawn craig
Seems to leave a hint about show design (just guessing). I think if they were going to fill specific roles it would be more of a hint. However, "the male spots will be the same as the females." So that tells us very little. jake_the_hydra
So....when do female guard auditions begin over at Madison and Cavaliers??? They don't, ever. . . . except for Carmen. And Alice. But that was Madison.
ContraRich77
Hi,ok everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so take this for what its worth, very little....but it seems to me much of the positive response is about how this will strengthen the guard and help the overall program while much (not all) of the negative response is about short dresses, leg spreading, and looking at girls. Theres also some anti-homosexual refrences thrown in as well. I understand being sad about the changing of tradition, I just question what tradition it is... Chris My opinions have nothing to do with perversion, and CERTAINLY nothing to do with ANY anti-homosexual anything. An all female guard has a unique prescence, and look..........just as an all MALE guard does, and just as a CO ED guard does.........Each of the three brings something unique to the field, and now one of them is going the way of the horse drawn carriage....... mhilton777
Am I missing something here? Didn't the 2006 Phantom show have a Co-Ed guard?
